The crown jewel of Illumination Studios, Despicable Me is back with Gru and his Minions with Despicable Me 4 release date set to July 3, 2024. This movie will see the arrival of Gru Jr. who is not exactly fond of his dad, Gru. The trailer shows us that Gru is trying to gain his affection but has not succeded so far. Among all this, an old enemy of Gru, Maxime Le Mal has escaped from prison and is coming to extract revenge from Gru and his family. In this article, find out about the lead cast of Despicable Me 4.
1. Steve Carell as Gru
Steve Carell has made quite a name for himself with some of the most loved characters in entertainment history. His legend lives in the renowned role of Michael Scott from The Office and as the voice of Gru in the Despicable Me franchise. He has been the voice of Gru since the very first movie and is coming back with Despicable Me 4 to voice the not-so-villainous supervillain.
Gru, from being a guy who wants to steal the moon and become the greatest Supervillain of all time to someone who wants to take care of his family, has come a long way, and in Despicable Me 4 his past will come crawling back to him while he tries to save the life he now has.
2. Kristen Wiig as Lucy Wilde
Kristen Wiig joined the Despicable Me franchise as Lucy Wilde in 2013 with Despicable Me 2 and has been a part of the franchise and the spinoffs since then. Lucy was first introduced as someone Gru had to pair with after he joined the Anti-Villain League. Even though they seemed to be incompatible with each other, they soon fell in love and got married. Despicable Me 4 will show us both of them trying to build a stable life.
3. Miranda Cosgrove as Margo
Margo is the elder sister to Edith and Agnes. The three of them were adopted by Gru to play a part in his evil plans, however, as time passed he grew fond of the kids and accepted them as his own. Margo, voiced by Miranda Cosgrove, is the smartest among the three kids and has often outsmarted Gru in the most comical of ways making her screen presence a true delight to watch.
4. Dana Gaier as Edith
Edith, voiced by Dana Gaier, is the middle child among the three siblings. She is always seen wearing a pink outfit with a knitted cap. She is the daredevil among the three kids and as common among middle children, she is paid the least attention to in the franchise till now. However, let’s hope that Despicable Me 4 takes her into the spotlight, even for a while, and shows us more of this awesome and fun character.
5. Madison Skyy Polan as Agnes
According to me, Agnes is by far the most loved character in the entirety of the Despicable Me franchise. She has been voiced by different people and for Despicable Me 4, she will be voiced by 9-year-old Madison Skyy Polan for the very first time. Agnes is the youngest of the e and is an adorable and naive little girl. One of her lines, “It’s so fluffy, I’m gonna die! ” is a popular meme template, and with Gru Jr. in the picture, I’m pretty excited to see the chemistry between Agnes and him.
6. Will Ferrell As Maxime Le Mal
Now, we have finally arrived at the most interesting addition to the Despicable Me franchise. The legendary Will Farell has joined the cast in the role of Maxime Le Mal, the main villain of Despicable Me 4. According to the trailer, Maxime has escaped from prison and is out looking for Gru and his family to extract revenge from him.
He will be accompanied by his girlfriend Valentina as well. As of now, we don’t know much about what Gru did to Maxime but the character seems to be fun so, let’s see what the creators of Despicable Me have in store for us.
