Deadlock Advanced Movement Guide: How to Dash Jump, Slide Jump, and More

If you are new to Deadlock or haven’t tested the right mechanics, you might feel a bit sluggish in the game. That is because there are plenty of movement options in Deadlock that elevate how you play. Using these mechanics will not only upgrade your win rate, but you will also feel more fun moving around the map. In this Deadlock advanced movement guide, we will explain how to dash jump, slide jump, wall jump, and more tricks. So with that, let’s begin.

How to Dash Jump in Deadlock

Dash jump is one of the best movement tricks in Deadlock. To ace this trick you must perfectly time the jump after you dash. To dash jump, you must press the jump button (spacebar) when you are in the middle of a dash (Shift key). The best way to do it is when you use the dash button, wait for the blue border to appear, and press the jump button immediately after.

Moreover, you can extend the dash jump with certain movements. You can use an additional dash after a dash jump to cover more ground. On the other hand, you can perform another jump after completing a dash jump. Keep in mind that both the extensions will use 3 of your stamina bars.

How to Wall Jump in Deadlock

The Deadlock wall jump is a fresh mechanic introduced in one of the recent updates. To perform a wall jump in Deadlock, you must first jump towards the wall. Once you touch the wall, let go of both the jump and the directional keys.

Now, click the desired direction key with the jump button to wall jump toward that location. Wall jumping in Deadlock is simple as you get plenty of time while on the wall to react. The wall jump doesn’t cost stamina bars making it a valuable movement mechanic to reach higher ground.

All Deadlock Slide Mechanics

Slide

In Deadlock, you can slide easily from stairs or slopes by holding the crouch button while descending from the upper grounds. However, you can also slide even on a flat surface.

To slide using the crouch button on a flat surface, you can build items with movement speed stats or increase your sprint speed. Items like Sprint Boots, Fleetfoot, and Viel Walker will give you momentum even on a flat surface to execute the slide.

Dash Slide

Another way to slide with a downward slope surface in Deadlock is the dash slide. You can perform a dash slide by pressing the dash button and holding the crouch at the end of the dash animation. As the slide gives you infinite ammo for the slide duration, you can use that even on a flat surface.

Dash Cancel

In Deadlock, you can outplay enemies effortlessly using a dash cancel. You can perform dash cancel by starting a dash and immediately pressing the crouch button once. This will trick the enemy into thinking that you are trying to perform a dash slide. You can easily dodge enemy attacks and not go far from your location using the dash cancel.

Slide Jump

Another jumping mechanic that can help you reach certain locations faster is the Deadlock slide jump. To perform a slide jump in Deadlock, you must jump within the duration of your slide. This trick is slightly easier than performing other movements. You get enough time to jump in between the slide’s starting point and end point. Ensure you release the slide button right when you jump.

You can extend this jump by sliding again right after the jump ends and even dash a second time without costing extra stamina. However, to perform it, you will need good momentum. That is why it is ideal to perform the slide jump extension near stairs or slopes.

How to Sprint in Deadlock

While all Deadlock heroes come with a base speed, they feel very slow most of the time. That is because you can increase the movement speed by sprinting. To sprint in Deadlock, you must buy the Sprint Boots from Vitality Items. The boots will help you run around the map faster even if you don’t use any movement trick.

However, the Sprint boots only work when you do not have your weapon in hand. To trigger this, you must walk away from combat and not use your ADS or any abilities. Once you are only walking using movement buttons, you will trigger the sprint. It will help you run faster as the boots add 2m/s movement speed.

Deadlock Movement Abilities

Apart from all the movement tricks and items, you can also move around easily with some hero abilities. Almost every hero in Deadlock comes with their movement-specific abilities. While some aren’t as good, others can utilize them to their maximum potential to roam the map swiftly.

Wraith is one of the best movement specialists in Deadlock as she comes with her own teleport ability. She can jump to a distance similar to the Wrarp Stone. Haze can go invisible with one of her abilities that grants her an extra dosage of movement speed. Lash, however, is one of the swiftest.
