- Bears can be tamed and used as a temporary mount in Crimson Desert.
- Find a bear in Hernand Highlands and start attacking it until it gets tired.
- Immediately press the ride button to climb on top of it and start using the bear as your mount.
Pearl Abyss went all-in when it comes to the mounts in Crimson Desert. Be it a horse or a dragon, you can ride almost everything you see in the game. Ever since Pearl Abyss revealed the different kinds of mounts in Crimson Desert, players have wanted to ride two things the most: the Dragon and the Bear. As opposed to the dragons, you can find the bears very early in the game. So, here is how to get a bear mount in Crimson Desert.
How to Tame a Bear in Crimson Desert
One of the best parts of Crimson Desert is that you can tame a bear. In case you were trying to tame the Bear like any other mounts in Crimson Desert, it doesn’t work out, and you will be mauled to death. So, here is how you can safely tame a bear in Crimson Desert:
- First, head over to our marked location in the Hernand Highlands.
- You can then find a bear wandering in the woods, and once the bear spots you, it will rush to maul you to death.
- Take out your sword and attack the bear until it gets tired, and you see the ‘Ride’ button pop up on your screen.
- Press the Square (in PS) or X button (in Xbox) to immediately turn the bear into your mount, or else you will lose your chance.
- Once you have climbed up on top of the bear, you can start riding it as you wish.
If you miss your chance to press the ride button, fighting the bear after you fail will result in the animal’s death. So make sure to make a separate save right before you begin fighting the bear, so you can reload the save file to get the bear mount in Crimson Desert.
Moreover, make sure to have enough healing items (check out the best healing items in our “How to heal” in Crimson Desert guide) with you because the bear will rip you apart easily. For me, it wasn’t an easy time taming the Bear without the necessary heals, so make sure to go with heals prepared.
Are Bears Temporary Mounts in Crimson Desert?

Unfortunately, Bears are only a temporary mount in Crimson Desert. I was having a great time riding the bear and clearing out enemy camps much more easily. But the moment I dismounted the Bear, it became hostile and began to attack me once again. So, there is currently no way to make the bears your permanent mount in the game.
Let’s see if Pearl Abyss can hear out the players’ pleas and make bears a permanent mount again in a future patch. Until then, you need to track a bear, fight it, and then begin riding it every time you feel like in Crimson Desert.
