Pre-Requisites to Installing Content Warning Mods
Like my previous modding guides, I suggest you begin by backing up your Content Warning game files. While the game is pretty small to re-download, having a backup ensures you get back to it quickly. Follow the steps below to do so:
- In your Steam library, find Content Warning. Right-click on the game on it and hover over the “Manage” option.
- Select “Browse local files” to open the folder with your game files. Copy everything in this folder to a separate location, and you’re done!
How to Install Mods in Content Warning
With the game files backed up, let’s install the mods in Content Warning using the steps below:
Step 1: Install the Thunderstore Mod Manager
- Begin by going to Thunderstore Mod Manager’s website and downloading the installer.
- Open the mod manager and search “Content Warning” on the search bar at the top.
- The manager will ask you to create a profile. Doing so is super easy so do that right away. Once done, simply select it to proceed.
- Thunderstore selects the game location by default. To double-check if Content Warning has been selected, click the Settings option in the left bar and check the third option.

Step 2: Install BepInEXPack
BepInEXPack is a general-purpose framework that allows Unity modding. Since Content Warning is based on Unity, we need this mod to enable modding. Additionally, BepInEXPack handles mod dependencies for us. Let’s take a look at how to install BepInEXPack by following the steps below:
- Once in the mod manager, click the “Get mods” tab on the left. This will display the mods available for installation.
- BepInEXPack is pinned at the top. Click on it to bring up a pop-up and then click on “Download“
- A drop-down menu will now open up, asking you to select the version. Leave it be and instead click on “Download with dependencies.”
- Once downloaded, it will show up in the My Mods tab. Finally, just click on the “Modded” button to start the game with mods.
