Black Myth Wukong has a variety of different levels each one beautifully designed. Well, except one. Pagoda Realm is an area where my blood boils just mentioning it. It is undoubtedly the worst area in Black Myth Wukong and for various reasons. This area is part of Chapter 3, where you are first mesmerized by the beautifully snowy landscape, only to be then thrown into a literal hellhole. This area of the map is a prison, created to prevent divine beings and Yaoguais from escaping and it does a fair enough job. So, why is this area such a drastic difference to the rest of the game? Well, here’s why.
Pagoda Realm is Black Myth Wukong’s Worst Area
For starters, this area implements one of the most dreaded mechanics in a Soul’s-like — Fall Damage. From the first Chapter, the concept of Fall Damage was almost absent in the game, with invisible walls preventing players from jumping over cliffs. This was all done to create a false sense of security, at least I think so, to later suffer in the dreaded worst area of the game.
The circling map of Pagoda Realm has multiple narrow beam-like structures that you can simply fall off from by making one wrong move. On top of that, there are conveniently placed enemies, almost like replaying Darks Souls 2, that will make crossing these narrow bridges extremely annoying.
But that’s not where the problems stop, this area also has a life drain mechanic. In intervals, the game will start draining your life, leaving behind a measly 30 to 40% of your maximum HP, which gets depleted in one or two hits from most random mobs in the area.
Pair that with some of the most annoying bosses in the game, and you have the worst area in the game. The two bosses found in this area — Captain Lotus-Vision, and Captain Wise-Voice, have multiple one-kill attacks in their arsenal.
How to Get Through the Pagoda Realm in Black Myth Wukong
After spending almost two hours just trying to navigate this area, I finally found a solution that almost trivialized the challenges I faced so far. And that solution is none other than the Cloud Step spell.
It was such a simple thing and yet it took me so long to figure out. This nifty Alteration spell makes your character invisible for a brief period, allowing you to just run through the area undeterred by annoying enemies throwing you to your death.
This particular spell also comes in handy against the two bosses in the area, giving time to process your thoughts mid-fight and plan your next attacks. The parry lovers using the Rock-Solid spell may want to reignite their Skill points and swap to Cloud Step to just clear this area easily.
So, there you have it. Share your opinion on Pagoda Realm and how you eventually decided to tackle the area. Also, don’t hold back on sharing any tips and tricks that may help other players get through this hell of a map in Black Myth Wukong.
