- Developer(s): Remedy Entertainment
- Genre: Survival Horror
Remedy Entertainment is well known for its deep tales that dive into the eerie and absurd. While franchises like Max Payne are grounded and intense, the Alan Wake series has an aura of its own. After an 11-year break, Alan Wake 2 was released to gamers worldwide.
The latest iteration finds the infamous writer Alan Wake still trapped in the Dark Place. As Alan tries to devise a plan to finally escape and reunite with his wife Alice, he encounters a haunting nemesis, Mr. Scratch, which makes this entire ordeal all the more horrifying.

5. Cyberpunk 2077

- Released: December 10, 2020
- Developer(s): CD Projekt RED
- Genre: Action Role-playing
Even though Cyberpunk 2077 is a few years old, its next-gen update breathed new life into the game. Even without it, the game remains one of the best PS5 games ever, which speaks volumes about its quality. Cyberpunk revolves around V, a freelance mercenary who lands in trouble after they insert an infected augment in their head.
Plagued by the digital consciousness of John Silverhand (Keanu Reeves) and grieving the loss of their pal, V must carve out their own path in Night City while tussling with the possibilities of an inevitable demise. If you want a game with a futuristic setting coupled with a good story, Cyberpunk 2077 is one of the best PS5 games to buy.
6. Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

- Released: February 4, 2025
- Developer(s): Warhorse Studios
- Genre: Action role-playing
The first KCD was filled with its fair share of jank, which deterred many players from giving it a chance. But Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is polished to the nth degree, all while staying true to the hardcore RPG formula that made the first game so unique. The first-person title is bucolic fields and sweeping grasslands, its dingy huts and Bohemian castles, and its gritty realism juxtaposed against some lighthearted absurdity. It might initially feel like a medieval life simulator, but KCD 2 is so much deeper beneath that rustic veneer, as laid out in our review.
The game also happens to be an absolute showcase for the PS5’s power. So, we highly recommend checking it out.
7. God of War Ragnarok

- Released: November 9, 2022
- Developer(s): Santa Monica Studio

Any gamer worth their salt has played the God of War series. Originating from the humble PS2, the Series follows the Greek god Kratos on his journey of revenge against his own kind. God of War Ragnarok takes place after the 2018 iteration and revolves around a much older and wiser Kratos and his son Atreus.
Besides packing an emotionally churning story, God of War Ragnarok is full to the brim with intense combat that will keep you on your toes. Combine that with an expertly designed skill tree, and you have yourself one of the best PS5 games.
8. Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

- Released: April 24, 2025
- Developer(s): Sandfall Interactive
- Genre: Turn-based role-playing
Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 popped up out of nowhere during last year’s Xbox Games Showcase and managed to gather a ton of interest through a riveting reveal trailer. Set during the Belle Époque era, the game is a Persona-inspired turn-based RPG complete with gorgeous UI elements that even Atlus would be proud of. In terms of look and feel, Expedition 33 gives off a strong Final Fantasy vibe, which is further cemented by the game’s premise.
Sandfall Interactive’s debut title takes place in the French settlement of Lumiere. This scenic location faces the threat of inevitable extinction due to an entity known as The Paintress. Every year, the mysterious deity scribbles a number on a giant canvas, and every person of that age dies. The number counts down every year, and in response, the people with one year to live come together to mount an expedition. Their goal – “Kill The Paintress so she may never paint again.” Thanks to some top-tier writing, it’s a strong hook that manages to stick the landing. All these elements make Expedition 33 a frontrunner for the 2025 GOTY and an absolute must-play.
9. Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon

- Released: August 24, 2023
- Developer(s): FromSoftware
- Genre: Vehicular Combat
While some classic mech combat isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, there’s no denying that the original Armored Core kicked up a huge storm when it launched years ago. And while we didn’t think we’d ever see the franchise land on the PS5, Fires of Rubicon dropped earlier in 2023 to prove us all wrong.
Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon packs the age-old mech-based vehicular combat we have come to know and love. Players act as Armored Cores set in a futuristic storyline where they must make important choices. However, it’s the absolute mind-numbing combat that makes it one of the best PS5 games. If you look hard enough, you just might even find semblances of Titanfall 2 here.
10. Elden Ring

- Released: February 25, 2022
- Developer(s): FromSoftware
- Genre: Action-role playing
Elden Ring can be a brutal, punishing, and at times, soul-crushing challenge that loves to put your “foolish ambitions to rest.” But the Souls-like is also expansive, wondrous, and downright majestic, making it one of the best games all time, period. The title puts players in the boots of ‘The Tarnished,’ a group of warriors traversing the Lands Between. The Tarnished must repair the Elden Ring and become the Elden Lord.
Elden Ring packs the same old meat grinder combat as its contemporaries, but takes it up many notches. Throughout its open world, players will encounter a plethora of demigod bosses and otherworldly creatures, all of which will make them want to tear their hair out.
11. Pacific Drive

Pacific Drive is one of those rare games that offer a mind-numbingly trippy experience while remaining nerve-racking at all times. This first-person title places you in the shoes of a survivor caught knee-deep in a world plagued with supernatural dangers. Pacific Drive shines through its incredible atmosphere, which is teeming with radiation and a sense of imminent disaster at every turn. Instead, it will be your job to keep it in shape and upgrade it purely to increase your chances of surviving this nightmare. The game also packs surreal graphics to amp up the feeling of danger.

13. HITMAN World of Assassination

- Released: January 20, 2021
- Developer(s): IO Interactive
- Genre: Stealth
Besides being counted as one of the best Xbox games, the Hitman saga is quite easily one of the best stealth franchises you can sink your teeth into. The World of Assassination compiles the modern Hitman trilogy and follows Agent 47 as he takes on 20 different assassinations across the world.
Like other Hitman games before it, players must figure out the best way to eliminate their target while remaining under the radar. The game gives free rein and, as such, allows gamers to assassinate their target six ways from Sunday. So, if you’re looking for a stealth game with a dab of creativity, check this PS5 game out.
14. Last of Us Part 2 Remastered

- Released: January 19, 2024

Even the newest PlayStation gamers know about the gut-wrenching storyline that comes with The Last of Us. Focusing on the father-daughter duo of Joel and Ellie, TLOU followed their saga in an ever-deadly world plagued by zombies. The Last of Us Part 2 is an extension of their tale, but the horrors have been dialed to an almost traumatizing zenith.
TLOU 2’s controversial remaster polishes up the game for PS5 with all the graphical enhancements you could ask for. While I am not a big fan of racing games, I’ve heard more than my fair share about GT 7. Gran Turismo 7 is a racing simulation game that is made for adrenaline junkies and serious racers alike. Gran Turismo 7 features over 500+ cars from a plethora of brands spread across 38 tracks.
Gran Turismo 7 on PS5 packs graphical prowess that rivals the biggest AAA games out there. While the game is geared towards more serious racing than arcade fun like Forza Horizon 5, GT 7 has still found its own amazing place in the community as one of the best PS5 games to play!
