However, I have tried my best to pick out great flicks that have not only ruled the box office but also won plenty of accolades. Knowing that one set of rules can’t apply to everyone’s taste, I have also ensured there is enough variety with a good mix of all sorts of genres like romantic-comedy, a classic political thriller, action-comedy and more.

When there is a discussion of a quintessential “Bollywood” flick, the one name that instantly rocks my mind is “Om Shanti Om” (2007). Flaunting six-pack, SRK looks at his killer best. So, it would be a blunder to miss out on this one. Talking about Deepika Padukone, she looks gorgeous in this fantasy romantic melodrama film. The story revolves around Om (SRK) a junior artist who is madly in love with Shantipriya (Deepika Padukone). He is brutally killed while trying to save his lady love. However, Om is reborn to avenge the killer. Interesting, isn’t it?

Said to be based on the life of the notorious criminal Abdul Latif (however the filmmakers asserted that this is nothing but a pure work of fiction), “Raees” (2017) faced a lot of controversies. Starring Shah Rukh Khan, the film is about the life of a bootlegger Raees Alam. Though a criminal by profession, Alam has a soft heart for the poor. Mahira Khan as his lady love plays a good part and so is Nawazuddin Siddiqui. If your mood is calling for a top-notch action-crime movie, unwind Raees and I’m sure you would appreciate the larger-than-life acting of the king khan.

Frankly speaking, there are very few crime thrillers that are as gripping as Andhadhun (2018, directed by Sriram Raghavan). Akash, (Ayushmann Khurrana) who is a visually impaired piano player, is unknowingly embroiled in the murder of a former film actor. As a result, he badly gets entangled into a hell lot of problems. Khurrana has excelled in the lead role, while Tabu has thrown plenty of killer punches. As for Radhika Apte, she looks at her best in the steamy role.

Without mincing my words, let me tell you that it’s undoubtedly one of the best comedy movies on Netflix. It shows Aamir Khan and Salman Khan in their funniest avatars. Even though Aamir Khan has given several memorable movies, I wouldn’t hesitate in putting Dangal (2016) right at the top. Playing the role of Mahavir Singh Phogat, a former wrestler who wishes to fulfill his dream of winning the gold medal for his country by training his daughters for Commonwealth Games, Aamir has more than excelled. This comedy horror film is about a place called Chanderi where people have to live with the constant fear of a spirit (stree). One day, Vicky (Rajkummar Rao) together with his friends goes after this mystery and solve it for good. It would be a huge blunder if I don’t mention “Shraddha Kapoor” as she looks charming in her mysterious avatar.

Though I’m not a big fan of a gangster film, I have watched “Once Upon A Time In Mumbai” (2010) four times. And believe me, I wouldn’t mind giving it a shot one more time. Well, it just explains how appreciable this movie is. “Ajay Devgn” as the real don has more than just lived up to the high expectation. And, Emraan Hashmi has completely nailed his extremely ambitious role. As for Kangana Ranaut and Prachi Desai, they are good enough to keep the interest alive.

When you talk about the versatility and precision with which Aamir Khan acts, the one movie which you shouldn’t fail to mention is “PK”. As a result, he has to go through a lot of ordeals to get back the remote which would help him go back to his planet. Playing the role of an Indian army officer, John Abraham has looked very convincing. And with a solid story to boot, the movie turns about to be a top pick both for John Abraham fans and the ones who have a liking for a pretty good political thriller.

Directed by Prakash Jha and starring Ajay Devgn, Nana Patekar, Ranbir Kapoor, Katrina Kaif, Arjun Rampal, Manoj Bajpayee and Naseeruddin Shah, the film takes a lot of inspiration from the epic “Mahabharat”. The entire movie is filled with killer political twists and turns. While Ajay Devgan has performed admirably (as Karn), it’s Ranbir Kapoor (as Arjun) who seems to run away both with the crown and accolades.
