Android P Beta 2 Now Available For Nokia 7 plus

Google rolled out Android P Beta 2 (also known as developer preview 3 or DP3) to Pixel devices earlier this month. And slowly the other phones in the Beta program are also catching up – faster than most Android OS updates.

Nokia 7 plus users who have been waiting for the Android P Beta 2 update are finally in luck today. HMD Global has now started rolling out the Android P Beta 2 build (or DP2 build, as per them) for the Nokia 7 plus, which is one of the few devices that is letting users test the upcoming Android update as part of Google’s developer preview program.

The new Android P Beta 2 build carries the version number 3.08B and is 1.4GB in size. The company has also updated the Nokia 7 plus Oreo rollback build and you will need to download and flash the V2.13B build on your device.

As you can read in the screenshot above, the official images for both the Android P and Oreo builds are out, so you will need to manually flash them on your Nokia 7 plus. It is, however, reassuring to hear that HMD is working on OTA update delivery and should be coming very soon. The developer page on Nokia’s website says, “support for OTA delivery is very close – stay tuned!”

Nokia has reason to be patient. If you recall, a recent update with the June 2018 security patch had bricked several Android P Beta-powered Nokia 7 plus devices, or rolled them back over to Android 8.0 Oreo.

So, if you’re planning to take Android P beta on a test drive on your Nokia 7 plus, you can head over to Nokia’s developer website to register and download the images. We would recommend waiting for the OTA update though as that is the safer option.
