All Star Tower Defense X Skill Tree Explained
In All Star Tower Defense X, you can unlock special moves for your units using the Skill Tree. This mechanic is limited to only 5-star or Unbound units in the game, so you will need to summon such units to use this feature. Moreover, you must be level 18 and above to use this mechanic in the game.
Features of ASTDX Skill Tree
Upon accessing the skill tree either from the Grand Elder or from the unit window itself (more on this below), you will see a new screen with branches, nodes, and the unit’s tree completion progress on the top right. So here is a brief about all the buttons and their uses in this section:
- Damage: Checking this button will only allow you to unlock the nodes on the damage path of the unit, which means your unit will have enhanced damage output.
- Speed: Checking this button allows you to unlock nodes on the speed path, hence boosting the rate of attack or shorter cooldowns.
- Range: Checking this button will unlock nodes on the Range path, so boosted range of attacks.
- Fast Unlock: This way, you will use up a given number of skill orbs to unlock all nodes on a branch, ignoring the dupe nodes and hidden special moves.
- 4 Empty Cells: Here, all your special ability moves are placed once unlocked with skill orbs.
- Locked Units: To the right of the empty cells are three locked units. These will be unlocked once you use the same unit to open a dupe node in the skill tree (more on this below).
How to Unlock Nodes in ASTDX Skill Tree
Now that you know what each thing means in the Tree Completion window of the skill tree section, you’re ready to unlock the nodes. You will need Skill Orbs to unlock new nodes in your unit’s skill tree.
Note that the skill orbs you earn have specific colors. Only when the color of the skill orb you have matches your unit’s color, then only can it be used to unlock its nodes. Otherwise, you would need to obtain Pure skill orbs, turn them into the color you require, and then unlock the nodes.
So, choose one of the three paths— Damage, Speed, or Range to unlock new upgrades for your unit. Do remember to choose the one that will help that unit gain an extra edge on the battlefield. Select the node at the starting point and click on the Confirm button to unlock a node by spending the required skill orbs.
ASTDX Dupe Nodes and Special Nodes
There are three extra dupe nodes in every unit’s skill tree. These are an important part of the trees for every unit, so make sure to unlock the three extra dupe nodes before anything. They allow you to explore other nodes as well when you’ve maxed out a certain branch.
In All Star Tower Defense X, the dupe nodes can be unlocked by using the same 5-Star or Unbound unit, whose skill tree you’re currently working on. Hence, you’ll require 4 units in all to unlock each and every node on the skill tree.
At the end of a certain branch, you will have the opportunity to unlock a special ability as well. This node is called the special node. Here, you can get a passive ability like 10% Critical chance or 10% Element boost for your unit, depending on the path you’ve chosen.
Once unlocked, these special abilities will then be added to the empty cells we mentioned above in the Tree Completion section. This way, you can unlock all the dupe nodes, then get all the special abilities as well to make your unit the strongest in the entire game.
How to Access the Skill Tree in All Star Tower Defense X
Once you have a 5-star or Unbound unit and have crossed the level 18 threshold, follow these steps to open up the skill tree for a certain unit:
- Move to the Grand Elder chamber on the left of the Summoning Area.
- Head inside and stand on the green highlighted area.
- Now, press the ‘E‘ key to interact with the Elder.
- From the given dialogues, select the one that says Hidden Potential.
- Now select the 5-star or Unbound unit whose skills you wish to upgrade, and click on Confirm.
- This will take you to the Skill Tree map, and then you can upgrade whichever path you feel like.
Alternatively, you can also select any 5-star or an Unbound unit, click on the 3 dots icon beside its stats to access its skill tree as well.
