The Poco F1 has gained a significant amount of popularity worldwide, thanks to its powerful specifications, a camera that clearly feels out-of-budget, a sturdy build, and features such as the liquid cooling tech. These great features, despite certain flaws, have resulted in a substantial revenue with Poco’s parent Xiaomi raking Rs 200 crore in the very first sale itself.
In spite of the Poco F1’s popularity, many wanting to own the device have faced difficulty in scoring one due to the rush at the flash sales. But as Poco’s global Product Head, Jai Mani, promised at the launch event, the issue is close to being resolved.
Xiaomi has now announced that the 128GB storage variant of the Poco F1 will be available for open sale, starting midnight tonight, i.e. September 14. The device can be bought either from Flipkart (From Rs 20,999) or via Mi.com. Xiaomi has also announced that the other two variants will also be available for open sale very soon, but there is no formal date announced yet.
Xiaomi’s Manu Kumar Jain and C Manmohan told users via Twitter that the 6GB+128GB variant has been specifically chosen for open sale because it was the most popular in the first few sales. However, the duo did not reveal any figures associated with the sales.
The open availability will not only allow Poco sell to more consumers, but also lets more Indians get the close-to flagship experience without paying a premium price. Despite some niggles, the Poco F1 makes for a great overall package and is still amazing value for money.
Moreover, I hope seeing the success of the Poco F1, Xioami would consider open sales for other devices including the newly launched Mi A2, as well as the Redmi 6 series.
