Jujutsu Kaisen is back and we aren’t talking about the official manga returning with new chapters. Instead, Gege Akutami decided to expand the JJK universe by launching a spin-off or sequel series, titled “Mojuro” or “Jujutsu Kaisen Modulo.” Of course, the new manga is set in the same universe, but fans who are excited to read the first chapter of Mojuro wonder what the timeline of the spin-off is and when exactly these events take place. Well, here’s the answer you are looking for.

Jujutsu Kaisen manga featured the intense battle against Sukuna in the end, but that wasn’t the end of the original series. Gege Akutami also gave fans an epilogue, which featured a long time skip of sixty-two years. And well, the JJK spin-off manga picks up right after where the JJK epilogue left off: six decades after the main story.

In the time skip, we saw that Yuta and Maki get married and continue to have kids. In fact, they become grandparents, and instead of dying fighting some curses, they both die of old age. Interestingly, Mojuro tells the story of Yuta and Maki’s grandchildren: Yuuka and Tsurugi. Instead of talking about their parents, both Yuuka and Tsurugi can be seen talking about Yuta and Maki, who apparently shaped their entire personalities.

Of course, we do see old Yuta in the background for a bit, but from the very beginning, it’s Yuuka and Tsurugi who get the spotlight. We also learn that Maki was the first one to die of old age, and Yuta followed his loved one after a few years. Both Yuuka and Tsurugi loved their grandparents, and they wanted to live up to their expectations by becoming strong sorcerers. Apart from these two, we also get one more main character in Mojuro: Maru.

Maru introduces himself as a foreign sorcerer, but in reality, he is an alien who belongs to some Simuria race. Apparently, Maru is on Earth to study the powers of“Japanese sorcerers,” and for that, he accompanies Yuuka and Tsurugi on their mission.

Even though Majuro is set 62 years after the events of JJK, it mirrors the essence of the original story. For instance, Yuuka, Tsurugi, and Maru are very similar to the original trio of JJK: Yuji, Nobara, and Fushiguro.

Overall, Majuro is a great spin-off story, and you can read the official chapter of the JJK spin-off on Viz Media and Manga Plus.
