Another day, another WhatsApp beta update. The highly popular messaging app keeps receiving new features through its periodic updates and the focus this time is on better verification methods. The latest WhatsApp beta for iOS is adding support for account login through email. Check out how it works and how it looks below.
Email Login for WhatsApp Is Coming!
The new WhatsApp Beta update for iOS (23.23.1.77) was pushed recently through the TestFlight beta program, as spotted by @WABetaInfo. Following up on a similar version for Android (2.23.24.10), the new beta update finally adds the ability to link an e-mail account to your WhatsApp. This standard feature on many apps was missing on WhatsApp but is finally making its grand entry in both Android and iOS.
As can be seen from the images, the email address page is fairly simple, with an option to add your address easily. Once done, you will need to verify your email post, which you should be able to access your account and recover it. However, it is worth noting that this is not replacing phone numbers, as you will still need them to access your account.
Users can choose not to use this feature as well if preferred. But I would say it would be useful to add your e-mail to WhatsApp so you have more options for receiving a 6-digit verification code when required.
