Playing a tower defense game is easy, but to clear levels easily, it is important to get the best units that fit your strategy. In Universal Tower Defense, it is no different. You get different styles of anime characters, from hybrid or ground damage dealers to money makers. This makes it hard to pick the meta units easily. Universal Tower Defense Tier List for All Units

At release, Universal Tower Defense features many characters inspired by top-tier anime legends. But with limited space on your team, you can’t just throw any unit into battle. That’s why it is important to pick characters that fit both the current meta and your playstyle. In our tier list, we have ranked every unit based on how effective they are at clearing enemy waves or making you money.

During our testing, some units clearly outperformed others and made progression much smoother. We’ve grouped them from S to D tier, where S-tier heroes represent the strongest characters in Universal Tower Defense.

Below, we have listed all the characters from Universal Tower Defense based on their abilities. We have also mentioned why you should pull a specific Universal Tower Defense character.

S Tier Units

These units are the absolute best in the game, defining the current meta through infinite scaling, massive damage, or unique boss-killing mechanics.

Sun Jin Wu (Sung Jin-Woo)	Hybrid	Spawns shadow armies, buffs their HP/Damage, and scales infinitely. A “must-have” that dominates all content.
Ragna	Hybrid	He stuns himself to “awaken,” gaining massive buffs before deleting himself (similar to Escanor). Incredible boss killer.
Dragon Silver	Hybrid	Freezes enemies and enters a “Silver Battle Trance” for 120% damage. Essential for stalling and killing high-HP waves.
Zaraki (Kenpachi)	Hybrid	Removes elemental disadvantages from enemies (unique utility) and deals Full AoE damage. Rated above Sasuke for his support utility.
Kirito (Kyito)	Ground	Gains insane buffs in “Virtual Mode.” A dual-wielder that ramps up crit/damage to become a hyper-carry.

A Tier Units

These units provide invaluable utility (buffs, cooldown reduction, time stops) or high-level control that is essential for clearing difficult content.

Unit Name	Role	Explanation
Miku	Support	The only unit that buffs both Damage and Range based on her music track. Essential for maximizing team DPS.
Sakuya	Support	Obtained in Virtual Mode. She can time-stop, stun, and buff her own damage. Rated as a top-tier support alongside Miku.
Lelouch (Lulu)	Support	Doesn’t do much damage, but his ability to make enemies walk backward (“Retreat”) or stand still is invaluable for stalling.
Scarlet	Support	High value for reducing cooldowns of “Royalty” units and providing time-stop stuns.
Law	Ground	The best non-secret ground unit. His “Room” ability targets the strongest enemies anywhere on the map. Great for picking off leaks.

B Tier Units

Solid units that perform well but lack the game-breaking scaling or unique mechanics found in the S-tier.

Sasuke	Hybrid	Good damage and Full AoE stun potential. He is strong but falls short of the S-tier “Gods” because he lacks their unique scaling mechanics.
Ace	Hill / Air	Good burn damage that bypasses shields. The best option for hitting flying units if you don’t have the S-tier Secrets.
Akainu (Admiral Magma)	Hybrid	Creates magma pools that confuse and damage enemies. Good, but outclassed by units like Zaraki and Ragna.

C Tier Units

Functional units for early game or specific niche uses, but generally replaced by higher-tier units later on.

Unit Name	Role	Explanation
Zora	Ground	Excellent for early game or F2P players. Uses traps to stun or damage enemies. The only non-Mythical worth using later on.
Genos	Hill / Air	Good damage against burning enemies, but his “Fearless Cyborg” passive stuns him for an entire wave, which hurts his consistency.
Mob Psycho	Hybrid	Only useful for a minor slow effect. His damage is negligible compared to other hybrids.
Ruin Obito	Ground	A free unit with decent burn and AoE, but intentionally weaker stats than the premium units above.

D Tier Units

These units are generally considered underpowered, inconsistent, or useless in the current meta.

Unit Name	Role	Explanation
Shanks	Support	His stun is okay, but his damage buff requires him to get kills, which is inconsistent since he isn’t a main DPS.
Shikamaru	Support	Cheap and provides a slow, but falls off immediately after the early game.
Isagi (Football Eagle)	Ground	His buff only works if he fails to kill an enemy. Universally considered the “trashiest” unit in the game.

How to Get New Units in Universal Tower Defense

Just like any other TD game, UTD characters are available from the summon area. Getting them requires gems, so yes, the Universal Tower Defense codes are important. These codes give a lot of gems for free.

To obtain the best units, you must check the banner and wait for the best units to appear on the index. Once it is there, here is how you can summon units in Universal Tower Defense:

• Click the Warp button on the left side of the screen.
• Go to the Summon area to start pulling new units.
• Click 1x Summon (50 Gems) or 10x Summons (450 Gems) to start pulling units.
