- Critical Mining can be useful in The Forge to mine rocks faster and better.

- The damage of Critical Mining depends on the pickaxe and mining boosts.
The Forge devs have finally released a QOL update, after witnessing the frustration among players due to the unbalanced grind in Island 3. This update brings some significant changes to the game mechanics, including Critical Mining. Critical Mining makes mining a lot more fun and speeds up the grind. In this guide, we have explained The Forge Critical Mining and shared some tips to maximise this new mechanism.
What Is The Forge Critical Mining?
Critical Mining in The Forge is a mining mechanism that deals extra mining damage. This happens when you hit the exact Critical Mining Hit Point on the rock or crystal you’re mining.
When you start mining rocks with your pickaxe, you’ll notice a white glowing spot or Critical Mining Hit Point on them, as given in the above image. When you hit that exact white glowing spot with your Pickaxe, the rocks will take an extra 1500-2000 damage. This is 2x more than the base damage of the Dragon Head Pickaxe.

The damage of Critical Mining depends on the damage of your Pickaxe. Therefore, ensure you use the best pickaxes available in the game. The Critical Mining Hit Point also changes each time you smash the rock with your pickaxe. However, it only appears once you’ve started mining.
Critical Mining makes farming ores in The Forge a lot easier, faster, and a fun experience for players. Using this mechanism with some tricks, you can easily get plenty of ores, much quicker compared to the Afk Spots.
Tips and Tricks to Maximize The Forge Critical Mining
Now that you know about the details of Critical Mining, it’s time to share some tips and tricks that you can use to mine like a pro. Here’s a list of them:
- As discussed, the Critical Mining damage depends on the damage of your pickaxe. Consider using the Dragon Head Pickaxe or the Heavenly Pickaxe, as they are the ones with the highest base damage.
- Use various potions when mining, like the Miner Potion I, Fungi Potion, or the Christmas Potion for an extra damage bonus. Don’t forget to add runes to your best pickaxes (If you are in the mid-game, then we recommend that you don’t attach runes to your pickaxes, as it’s costlier to do so).
- While the Dwarf race can boost the mining power, we aren’t sure if it does the same for Critical Damage. If you have tried this out, then let us know in the comments.
- Equip the Master Miner Skill from the Achievement section to increase your mine power by 5, 10, 15, 20, or 25%.
- The Critical Damage hit points appear randomly on the rocks and crystals, which might make it a bit frustrating, as you have to move around and hit the exact spots. However, I have noticed that you’ll hit the exact Critical Damage spot 70% time when you are standing on top of the rocks. You can do so by jumping on top of them. The Angel and Archangel races are the best ones for this, but you can also check the other races in The Forge and see what suits you.
Critical Mining gives a significant boost when it comes to mining, but it doesn’t affect luck at all. If you’re going for the rarer ores, then consider using luck boosting items and races.
That sums up everything about The Forge Critical Mining. Are you enjoying the new QOL updates? Let us know in the comments.
