One of the most awaited sequels to the franchise, Marvel’s Spider-Man 2, is releasing tomorrow, October 20, 2023. Insomniac is once again pairing up Peter Parker and Miles Morales, allowing you to fill the shoes of both Spider-Man. While you can already check out our Spider-Man 2 review and the pre-load guide, today, new details regarding the game have come to light related to the New Game Mode Plus. Let’s discuss what Insomniac said regarding the New Game Plus Mode and level replayability.
Will Spider-Man 2 Have New Game Plus on PS5?
Unfortunately, Insomniac has confirmed that the upcoming Spider-Man 2 game won’t come with a New Game Plus Mode at launch. The news was shared by James Stevenson, the Community Director at Insomniac Games, in a reply to a user asking the same. However, while the game won’t have the NG+ on Day 1, Insomniac is already working on an update for it, along with level replayability.
According to Insomniac, NG+ should come to the game before the end of the year. This means that the developers are targeting an update to add the New Game Plus mode in Spider-Man 2 before the end of 2023.
Spider-Man 2 New Game Plus should allow you to experience the story again but with all of your previously owned skills & abilities. So, you get to build your character further – and use all the cool gadgets & suit tech right from the start of the game. Furthermore, with mission replayability, you will get to experience any story mission that was previously completed within that save.
New Game Mode Plus is a feature that is mainly found in RPGs like Starfield, where there is something to explore once the main story has ended. However, Spider-Man 2 is a linear story game with little to do once you have wrapped up the narrative. So, while you carry all your progress, you’d be hard-pressed to find what to do next. Nonetheless, it will be helpful for a lot of gamers.
