Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus Break Cover, Resemble Galaxy S8

Galaxy S9 & S9 Plus

Samsung’s new “Galaxy S” flagships are upon us. And although Samsung refused to give us a sneak-peak of the device along with its launch date announcement, we have our first look at the device, thanks to Evan Blass.

The noted leaker tweeted an image showing the renders of both the Galaxy S9 and the Galaxy S9 Plus side-by-side. And if the leaked render is anything to go by, we are looking at a modest design update. However, it’s plausible considering that the Galaxy S8 already had a stunning all-display design.

As VentureBeat noted, the upcoming Galaxy S9 is said to feature a 5.8-inch display, whereas the Galaxy S9 Plus is said to feature a 6.2-inch display. Although they feature more or less the same design as last year, it looks as if the new devices have a slightly bigger side bezels. But hey, these are simply renders and the finished product may look a lot different and better. So, don’t get to a conclusion just yet.

Although the renders show a design resemblance to last year’s Galaxy S8, they aren’t completely the same in terms of hardware. According to Blass, the standard S9 will have 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of onboard storage, whereas the Plus size will have 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of storage, and depending on the region, both the devices will either feature a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 processor or Samsung’s in-house Exynos 9810 chip.

This year’s flagships will house better cameras. According to the rumors, the S9 and S9 Plus will have a 12 MP rear camera with variable aperture features and support for making “super-slow-mo” videos.

Lastly, it is also worth noting that both the Galaxy S9 and the S9 Plus are said to go on sale on March 16th. That being said, let’s don our speculating hat and wait for the official launch that’s scheduled to happen in a couple of weeks from now.
