OnePlus 5T vs OnePlus 5: What’s New?

OnePlus 5T vs OnePlus 5

It has barely been 5 months since the launch of the OnePlus 5 flagship-killer smartphone, but the Chinese manufacturer is already preparing to launch their next flagship, the OnePlus 5T, which is considered as a refinement over the predecessor. The company has sent out invites for the official launch that’s set to happen on November 16th in New York City. So, if you’re all excited for this new smartphone, here’s everything new that the OnePlus 5T has to offer:

  • Minimal Bezels – Yes, you read that right. The bezels are shrinking big time to make it look and feel like a smartphone from 2017. Considering the OnePlus 5 was constantly criticized for its ageing looks, this is a great comeback by the Chinese company.

  • Bigger Display, Higher Resolution – Thanks to the bezel-less design approach, OnePlus is able to cram a bigger 6-inch Optic AMOLED display into a smaller overall footprint which is quite impressive to say the least. Just like several other bezel-less Androids out there, the OnePlus 5T’s display will follow an 18:9 aspect ratio. As a result of this, the resolution has been slightly bumped up to 1080 x 2160 pixels.

  • Rear-Mounted Fingerprint Scanner – This is one of the negatives of having a bezel-less design. There’s no space for capacitive home buttons or the fingerprint scanner on the front of the device. Therefore, the company has apparently moved the super-fast fingerprint scanner to the back with the OnePlus 5T. Plus, this will also be the first OnePlus smartphone with on-screen home and navigation buttons.

  • Better Camera – The new OnePlus 5T sports a dual-camera setup just like the predecessor, but the resolution is rumored to be bumped up to 20 megapixels. Although the company gave no clear indication regarding the camera changes, the OnePlus 5T camera setup seems to be focused on delivering improved low-light photography.

Well, these are all major changes that the new OnePlus 5T has to offer. The rest of the hardware will be similar, if not exactly the same as the current OnePlus 5, like the Snapdragon 835 octa-core processor, 6 / 8 GB of RAM and 64 / 128 GB storage options.
