Spoilers Warning: This article contains spoilers about Vivi, aka Miss Wednesday, from One Piece. Read at your own discretion if you want to learn more about this character.
Who Is Vivi in One Piece?

After the Straw Hat Pirates sail across the Reverse Mountains, they find themselves up against a bounty hunter from Baroque Works, none other than Vivi. She goes by the alias, Miss Wednesday, and works in pairs with Mr. 9. The duo of bounty hunters is on the hunt for the giant Laboon.
Soon, Vivi’s true identity is revealed to be the Princess of the Arabasta Kingdom. She is the daughter of Nefertari Cobra, the King of Arabasta, and has forsaken her throne to infiltrate the Baroque Works organization. Her goal is to bring the criminal mastermind behind Baroque Works to light and put a full stop to the organization’s plans to incite a civil war in her homeland.
Thus, Vivi begins as an antagonist of the Straw Hat Pirates and soon becomes a member of the crew as Luffy and his friends aid her in her journey to restore peace in the Arabasta Kingdom.
Who Plays Vivi in the One Piece Live-Action?
After a long time of rumors, Netflix confirmed that the Bridgerton fame, Charithra Chandran, has been cast as the fan-favorite Vivi in One Piece Season 2 live-action. She is known for her roles in popular TV shows, such as Netflix’s Bridgerton, Dune: Prophecy, Fight or Flight, and Alex Rider, etc.
Once previews of Charithra as Vivi surfaced online, a part of the One Piece fandom racially abused the star for playing Vivi’s role. During this crisis, the One Piece live-action cast, especially Emily Rudd (Nami) and Rob Colletti (Wapol), rallied and stood together with Charithra against the backlash and hateful comments.
It should be noted that author Eiichiro Oda specially chose Charithra Chandran for the role of Vivi in One Piece live-action. However, the fans who thought they knew better than the author continue to make hateful remarks against her. We have no doubts that Charithra will shut her haters down with her amazing performances as Vivi in the second season.
How Old Is Vivi in One Piece?
Vivi is also of the same age as the members of the Straw Hat Pirates, i.e., 16 years old at the time of her debut in the One Piece series. She remains the same age throughout the events of the Arabasta arc and grows up only after the two-year time skip at the midpoint of the One Piece series.
Thus, Vivi is currently 18 years old in the modern-day events of the One Piece story. Vivi remains a core character of the crew, as numerous groundbreaking revelations about the Nefertari family happen in the final saga of One Piece.
Does Vivi have a Devil Fruit Power?
While many of the Baroque Works members are strong Devil Fruit users, Vivi belongs in the opposite category, having not eaten any Devil Fruit in the One Piece series to date. Despite being a normal human, Vivi joined Baroque Works undercover and made her way up the ranks through her sheer effort, without being blessed with any Devil Fruit powers like the rest. This is a testament to Vivi’s strength and spirit, which makes her one of the strongest characters in the Arabasta saga.
Instead of Devil Fruit powers, Vivi uses Peacock Slashers, a weapon made up of razor-sharp jewels attached to sturdy wires. Keep in mind that these slashers are so sharp-edged that they could decapitate their target’s head in the blink of an eye. So, don’t underestimate this weapon, and Vivi is also quite skilled at using this special weapon in her battles.
In addition, she is also seen riding her pet Karoo to boost her movement speed, an added advantage in battles. During her time as a Baroque Works agent, Vivi honed her combat skills as a bounty hunter
Is Vivi Officially a Straw Hat?
Despite debuting as a Straw Hat Pirates’ villain, Vivi becomes part of Luffy’s crew like one of their very own throughout their journey to save the Arabasta Kingdom. The crew officially invited Vivi to become one of the Straw Hats at the end of the Arabasta saga. Though Vivi’s heart always yearned to become one and continue their adventures on the sea, she refused to go on with the crew. As a princess, Vivi aims to fulfill her royal duties and take good care of her people, as she loves her kingdom.
I love this kingdom! So I can’t go! But if we were to see each other again… will you call me your crewmate?
When Vivi asked whether she would be considered a crewmate if their paths were ever to cross again, the answer was always a resounding yes. But since the Marines spied the Straw Hat Pirates, they couldn’t say it aloud; instead, they raised their arms and showed the ‘X’ mark, the sign of their friendship, as they bid a teary farewell to Vivi.
Vivi will always be a Straw Hat, and even fans around the world consider Vivi an honorary member of the Straw Hat Pirates to this day. We are sure that the live-action series will adapt the iconic scene of Vivi’s farewell at the end of One Piece Season 3.
So, yes, Vivi is officially a Straw Hat, and we can’t wait for the day when Vivi reunites with her crew in the One Piece series.
