HMD Global has been actively launching devices in India to rebuild its lost persona in the country. Now, following a series of launches earlier in India – including Nokia 6.1, 7, and 8 Sirocco, the Finnish company is bringing a bunch of new devices to India.
HMD Global has announced the updated versions of two of its older devices in India. The Nokia 5.1 and 2.1 were unveiled back in May and along with these two devices, HMD also launched a 3GB RAM variant of the Nokia 3.1.
Nokia 2.1 (Android Oreo Go Edition)
The noticeable upgrades in the 2018 models include refreshed displays and slight upgrades in terms of hardware. The Nokia 2.1, to begin with, now has a larger 5.5-inch display, although with the same HD resolution. The smartphone is now part of the Android Go club and runs Android Oreo Go. It is powered by 1GB of RAM and a Snapdragon 425 chipset up from Snapdragon 212 in the previous generation.
The smartphone features an 8MP camera on the back with a 5MP selfie camera on the front. It gets 8GB onboard storage which can be expanded up to 128GB. Lastly, There’s a 4,100mAh battery that should easily serve for more than a day or two. The smartphone is priced at Rs. 6,999 in India.
Nokia 5.1
Nokia 5.1 appears to be facelifted to fall in line with other 2018 smartphones. The screen is now bigger and has rounded corners while the fingerprint scanner has been moved to the back. The smartphone uses a MediaTek Helio P18 chip with 3GB of RAM. HMD also launched a 2GB RAM variant at the unveiling in Russia.
There 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded up to 128GB. For photography, there’s a 16MP shooter on the back along with an 8MP one for selfies. The device is powered by a 2,970mAh battery. HMD has priced the Nokia 5.1 in India at Rs. 14,499.
Nokia 3.1 With 3GB RAM
Along with the two devices which are new to India, HMD has also launched a 3GB RAM variant of Nokia 3 (2018). The device was recently launched in India with 2GB RAM and 16GB of storage. Besides higher memory, the Nokia 3.1 also get increased storage with 32GB of space.
All of the remaining specifications, such as the processor, the cameras, and the battery remain the same as the previously launched variant. The 3GB model will go on sale in India at Rs. 11,999 which is Rs. 1,500 higher than 2GB unit.
All of these smartphones will be available for sale in India starting August 12 via major offline retailers and online via Paytm.
Nokia 6.1 Plus Coming Soon
The Finnish giant has also sent out invites for a launch event on August 21 in India where it is expected to release the Nokia 6.1 Plus aka the X6. While the device has already been launched in other markets, we wait to see it pricing in India and whether that will be a turning point for the company’s fate in India or not.
