How to Watch Jujutsu Kaisen in Order

The fan-favorite Jujutsu Kaisen anime has been around since 2020, and until now, we have received two full-fledged series and one movie. The already celebrated dark fantasy series grew even more in popularity after the arrival of Season 2, which adapted the Shibuya Incident arc. Due to this, Jujutsu Kaisen has become quite popular, and even enthusiasts who have never watched anime before wish to know how to watch Jujutsu Kaisen in order. Well, we are here to sort things out for such fans.

Jujutsu Kaisen’s watch order is quite straightforward compared to several other anime, for example, Gundam’s watch order or Attack on Titan’s watch order. However, at times, the prequel arcs and the feature film make the watch order a bit complex for the new viewers.

Moreover, some viewers may prefer to watch the anime series in chronological order instead of the release order. Regardless, we have explained both in this article.

If you don’t want to complicate things and want to simply experience Jujutsu Kaisen in the release order, then follow this list:

  • Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1
  • Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie
  • Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1

Officially announced in WSJ’s 52nd issue, Jujutsu Kaisen arrived with its first season on Japan’s TBS TV’s Super Animeism programming block and MBS TV on October 3, 2020. The series had 24 episodes released weekly until March 27, 2021. Crunchyroll simulcasted the pilot season of JJK for International viewers.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1 introduced us to Yuji Itadori, the main protagonist, and Sukuna, the most dangerous villain and King of Curses. Gojo Satoru’s entry in the picture was the icing on the cake as he gained even more popularity than Itadori, all thanks to his gorgeous appearance and charismatic personality.

We meet other intriguing characters besides him, including Megumi Fushiguro, Kento Nanami, and Nobara Kugisaki. JJK Season 1 covered multiple arcs, and here’s the breakdown:

  • Episode 1 – 8: Fearsome Womb Arc
  • Episode 9 – 13: Vs. Mahito Arc
  • Episode 14 – 21: Kyoto Goodwill Event
  • Episode 22 – 24: Death Painting Arc

Jujutsu Kaisen 0 Movie

The events of Jujutsu Kaisen 0 follow the prequel manga series of the same name. Instead of Yuji as the protagonist, the film sees Yuta Okkotsu as the central character. Jujutsu Kaisen 0 was released in theaters in December 2021, and like the first season, fans showered it with the same amount of love. Excitingly, it was a box office hit and became Japan’s highest-grossing anime film in 2021.

The Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie, 105 minutes long, not only focused on Yuta while he tried to control Rika’s Cursed Spirit but also featured several intriguing sequences involving the friend-turned-enemy duo Gojo Satoru and Suguru Geto. Furthermore, the film features some of the best fighting sequences, making it even more admirable.

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2

When Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 was announced, we also learned that Shota Goshozono would direct it. Being familiar with Sunghoo Park’s direction, most fans were concerned about how things would go in the anticipated season.

JJK Season 2 was released in July 2023, and it surpassed the quality of the pilot season and made the franchise even more popular. With each passing episode, the second season became the most trending anime on social media, and no one could stop talking about its events.

The first half of Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 is a prequel to the first season and the JJK 0 movie. It allows us to meet a young Gojo without the blindfold. We see the time when Gojo and Geto were best friends, along with the decisions that led to them becoming rivals.

Besides that, the second half of the season was full of bloodshed, which made it difficult for us to control our tears after witnessing the death of some of the most beloved characters. Season 2 was divided into two consecutive cours, and here’s a breakdown that will tell you about the arcs that it covered:

  • Episode 25 – 29: Gojo’s Past Arc
  • Episode 30: Death Painting Arc
  • Episode 30 – 47: Shibuya Incident Arc

Jujutsu Kaisen Season 3 will be more exciting as it will feature the Culling Game Arc. However, as MAPPA is currently packed up with the production of the Chainsaw Man movie, we cannot expect the anticipated season of JJK to arrive anytime soon.

If you’re opting for chronological order, you’ve to follow a different pattern to understand the series. Here’s the complete breakdown:

  • Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 (Episodes 1-6): This portion of Season 2, Hidden Inventory Arc, should be watched first because it lays the foundation for Gojo and Geto’s rivalry. It also clarifies why Gojo took Megumi under his shadow.
  • Jujutsu Kaisen 0: In this movie, we see events related to Yuta Okkotsu. Gojo takes Yuta as his student and helps him defeat Geto in the movie. We also see Geto’s demise before Kenjaku takes over his body.
  • Jujutsu Kaisen Season 1: This season picks up with Gojo taking Yuji Itadori as his student and with the arrival of Sukuna.
  • Jujutsu Kaisen Season 2 (Episodes 7-23): This part of the second season focuses on the current timeline and features several important battles, including Gojo Satorugetting sealed in the Prison Realm.
