- Unlike other metals, Steel cannot be mined in Dune Awakening. So, you'll need to gather Carbon Ores, Iron Ingots, and Water to craft Steel Ingots.
- Water can easily be obtained by harvesting dew in a Literjon, or filling up Blood Sacs by killing enemies and then processing it into water.
- Carbon Ore can be mined in the Jabal Eifrit Al-janub region.
As far as metals go, Steel Ingots are among the most difficult ones to get in Dune Awakening. Unlike Iron, Copper, or even Aluminum, Steel cannot be found in the wild since it’s a byproduct of different materials. This means you’ll need to gather a selection of resources and then process them to produce Steel. This can be a long and tedious process, but if you want to craft parts for vehicles along with Mk3 equipment, there’s sadly no way around it. So if you’re looking for some pointers, here’s how you can get Steel in Dune Awakening.
How to Make Steel Ingots in Dune Awakening

To get steel ingots in Dune Awakening, you must combine iron ore, carbon ore, and water in an Ore Refinery. The exact recipe for a steel ingot is:
- 4 Carbon Ore
- 1 Iron Ingot
- 50 Water
Let’s begin with the easiest of the bunch – water. By this point in the game, you’ll likely have a solid water reserve with multiple Blood Purification stations, a Dew Reaper, and maybe even a Deathstill. If not, you can easily meet this water demand by walking into any scavenger outpost, taking out an enemy, and extracting their blood to turn into water. If you still can’t get it, then learn the best ways to get water in Dune Awakening right here.
Iron ore in Dune is up next, and this resource is also quite easily available. Just venture into the Western Vermillius Gap region, located directly north of Hagga Basin, and you’ll find iron ore scattered throughout the region. To turn these ores into an iron ingot, you’ll have to combine 25 water and 5 bits of ore in an Ore Refinery station.
Lastly, carbon ores can be mined in the Jabal Eifrit Al-janub region, located north of the Eastern Vermillius Gap. The area is surrounded by quicksand, so watch your step if you don’t fancy being worm food. What you’ll be on the lookout for are rocks with silver crystal formations poking out of them. You’ll need the Cutteray Mk2 at a minimum to extract the carbon ore.
After gathering these items, return to your base and click on the steel ingot recipe in your Ore Refinery.
