How to Get an Ornithopter Fast in Dune Awakening

Dune Awakening is the perfect game to live your fantasies out loud. The game stays true to the Dune lore, including the technology. The Ornithopter is one of the popular techs from the Dune franchise that has been brought into Dune Awakening, and it is also arguably the most fun element of the game. However, crafting one can be extremely tiring due to the vast resources required. Thankfully, you can minimize the work a lot by taking certain precautions. To help you out, here we have created a guide on how to craft an Ornithopter fast in Dune Awakening, including where to find everything, the best farm routes, and farming methods.

Materials Needed to Craft Ornithopter in Dune Awakening

Crafting an Ornithopter is not easy. You need a ton of things, including buildings to refine the farmed resources for the Ornithopter. So, here is a checklist for you with everything needed to craft an Ornithopter in Dune Awakening:

  • 57,406 ml of Water for Ornithopter and 70,000 ml total for crafting-related buildings
  • 241 Aluminum Ingots
  • 82 Cobalt Paste
  • 22 Particle Capacitors
  • 14 Diamondine Dust
  • 8 Industrial Pumps
  • 8 Complex Machinery
  • 8 Carbide Scraps
  • 30 Intel Points for Ornithopter and 330 Intel Points in Total
  • Medium Ore Refinery
  • Buggy (for carrying materials)
  • Cutteray MK3 or Buggy Cutteray MK4
  • Vehicle Fabricator

Best Ways to Farm Materials for Ornithopter

Crafting an Ornithopter is difficult mainly because of the insane amount of required materials. Although there is no shortcut to it, except one mentioned at the very end, below I have given the fastest ways you can farm all the materials for crafting an Ornithopter in Dune Awakening. But before it, go through the entire process to build yourself one.

1. Build a Buggy to Carry Materials

Before you start farming for Ornithopter materials, I recommend building a Buggy. A Buggy will let you farm much more efficiently with much less back and forth. It will also give you massive inventory space that will let you farm all the Aluminum Ore and other materials with just a couple of runs. Here is everything you need to build a Buggy:

  • 1390 ml of Water
  • 15 Intel Points for the Buggy and 100 Intel Points in total
  • 240 Steel Ingot
  • 122 Advanced Servoks
  • 120 Cobalt Paste
  • 75 Particle Capacitor
  • 23 Holtzman Actuator
  • 10 Complex Machinery
  • 26 Armor Plating

Overall, these items are not that hard to farm in early-to-mid-game and are also required to build the Ornithopter. So, you can farm the items for both vehicles simultaneously. Follow our Dune Awakening base building guide to find the best spot for farming these materials.

2. Gather a Lot of Water

The major bottleneck for building an Ornithopter quickly is the water requirement. You will need approximately 70k ml of water to build the Ornithopter and other related buildings. So, how to achieve this insane number quickly? Although you cannot avoid the grind, the following way will make you grind much more efficiently for water:

  • Upgrade Blood Extractors and Purifiers: The first thing you need to do is research an Improved Blood Purifier, Blood Extractor MK2, and Medium Blood Sack. An Improved Blood Purifier will increase water extraction efficiency by 40%, giving you more water for every ml of blood deposited. At the same time, the Blood Extractor MK2 and Medium Blood Sack will let you collect a lot more blood on each of your farming runs.
  • Build multiple purifiers and water storage: You must build at least 4-5 Improved Blood Purifiers to extract 70k ml of blood from blood at one go. Next, you must create 15 Water Cisterns to store all the water in your facility. It is best to craft normal Water Cisterns as they only require Copper Ingots to build.

  • Dew Reaper, if possible: Although it’s a bit of a hassle early on, if you can get your hands on a Dew Reaper, particularly the Industrial Dew Scythe MK4, then collecting water will be a breeze. However, getting to it can be a massive hassle as you will need an additional 20 Intel points to research it, among other valuable materials.
  • Extract Blood while farming for valuable resources: Although you can go on separate enemy camp runs to extract the required amount of Blood, it is best to do it while you are farming for the other materials. Most of the valuable materials for Ornithopter can be found in Wreckages, enemy strongholds, or Choam facilities, where the place will be filled with enemies. So, you can be smart and farm for both things at the same time. The ideal farming route is mentioned in that section.

3. Get Aluminum Ingots and Cobalt Paste

Now, you will need to get natural resources to build the Ornithopter. This includes farming Aluminum ore and Erythrite Crystals and refining them into ingots and cobalt paste.

We also have a guide on how to get Aluminum in Dune Awakening, so read that first if you don’t have the necessary items for mining or refining Aluminum yet. Once you have them and a buggy, head to the following map location. This location is best for farming Aluminum Ore in Dune Awakening.

All three places marked in the Eastern Shield Wall are filled with Iron Ores. However, you will also find them along the roads between these points. So, while moving from one point to the other, farm all the Aluminum Ores you see on the road until you have them all. Ideally, you will need to do two runs with your buggy to complete the Aluminum Ore requirement.

Now, put the Aluminum Ore into the Medium Ore Refinery and wait for them to become Aluminum Ore. You will need a ton of water for this, so prepare for that first.

4. Target Testing Stations, Strongholds, and CHOAM Facilities

Now, it is time to target all the big enemy hub spots to find the other valuable resources for crafting an Ornithopter. This will require much work, so follow the farm route below to achieve it fast.

  • Start off in the Eastern Vermillius Gap, which is also the best place for a base, and start with the Testing stations there and the Ironworks for Servoks and Complex Machinery.
  • Next, move towards Mysa Tarill stronghold, found in Mysa Tarill, and farm all the chests inside to get the Diamondine Dust. Now, head to the Testing Station above Mysa Tarill and then go to the Sentiel stronghold in Eastern Shield Wall.
  • You will find Industrial Pumps in the Sentinel stronghold, so collect the loot from all the chests.
  • Make your way into the Hagga Rift and follow the path shown. Enter the canyon and farm the Testing stations there one after another to get all the rest of your valuable resources. You can also farm for Erythrite Crystals at one go for the cobalt paste.

Buy Ornithopter Parts Instead (Alternative Way)

If you don’t want to farm for the Ornithopter, then you can always purchase them from vendors. Now, this may sound simple to you initially, but it is not! You can only buy Ornithopter parts from faction vendors, which are expensive. Furthermore, you need to reach Reputation 4 with a faction before their vendor starts selling Ornithopter parts.

To increase faction reputation, you will have to complete the contracts they give you. Once you have enough reputation, you must save up 125,000 Solari to buy all the Ornithopter parts.

Once you have the money, head to the faction vendor you have increased the reputation with and buy all the Ornithopter parts. After you have the parts, you can craft an Ornithopter.

How to Craft an Ornithopter in Dune Awakening

Now that you have all the resources, it is time to craft an Ornithopter. To craft an Ornithopter, you will need a Vehicle Fabricator and a Welding Torch to craft an Ornithopter. Here are the exact steps:

  • Research the Ornithopter using 30 Intel Points.
  • Use the Vehicle Fabricator to build all the Ornithopter parts. If you have purchased the Ornithopter parts, you can skip this step.
  • Now, use the Welding Torch to put together the Ornithopter. Make sure to do this in an open area, ideally on the roof of your base.
