  • Atsu needs to find Ugetsu the Storyteller, south of the Otsuki River, to kick off the Storm Blade quest.
  • After following a Shadow Fox, you'll be able to claim the Storm Blade, Jin's Mask and Clan Shimura Helmet.

Ghost of Yotei is already shaping up to be the Game of the Year for PlayStation fans as they dive back into the same Samurai universe that Sucker Punch created back with its hit prequel, Ghost of Tsushima. This latest entry into the series serves as a spiritual successor to the first game, where Atsu follows the path of the shinobi 300 years after the events of Tsushima to avenge her family’s death.

While her arsenal is full of unique weapons that she can upgrade along the way, there’s nothing like slashing an enemy with Jin Sakai’s iconic Storm Blade, which paved the way who follow the path of either a Ronin or a Shinobi. And if you’re looking to find remnants of the iconic Ghost of Tsushima in Ghost of Yotei, you can actually get Jin’s Mask and Blade in the game, only if you know where to look hard enough. Here’s how you can claim them both in Ghost of Yotei.

Jin Sakai Ghost Mask and Storm Blade Location and Mission Walkthrough in Ghost of Yotei

To find Jin Sakai’s Ghost Mask and Storm Blade in Ghost of Yotei, you need to unlock the Oshima Coast region by meeting Jubei and teaming up with Oyuki at the Matsumae Castle. There, purchase maps from Isaburo the Cartographer and place an Altar map on the hills south of the Otsuki River. Follow that path until you reach a shrine entrance and come across an NPC there called Ugetsu the Storyteller.

He will tell you the story of the Storm Blade and a Ghost who wielded it and possessed the power of the storm. He’ll tell you that you’ll find the blade at the top of the shrine. Then proceed towards the stairs and, upon clearing a bamboo tree path, you’ll find a fox shrine. Swipe down on your touchpad and bow down to pay your respects.

Then, a shadow fox (black in color) will appear in front of you. Follow the fox as he’ll take you through several obstacles until you reach an area with a crimson tree called the Glade of Remembrance. Open the chest there and you’ll find a haiku written by Jin himself! You’ll start to get hints of his days spent here as you proceed further, near a waterfall where you’ll find a Lost Shinobi Den.

Head inside the den and you’ll see tons of arrows, ammunition, armor, Jin’s horse saddle, his flute, his bandana, and a Clan Sakai Stag Helmet that you can claim. Then, climb the roof of the hut and climb up the rocks to make your way inside a cave.

Once you’re in the cave, you’ll see the Storm Blade placed right in front of you at an altar. Interact with it to claim it, and as soon as you do, a flash of light will blind your vision, and a Nine Tails enemy will flee away with the blade. You’ll be left in the den to fight against the remaining Nine Tails. Finish them all off and keep following the thief.

You’ll eventually reach a field full of white grass and a hut, inside which you’ll learn that Jin used to be a herbologist and used to make medicine and poison to protect himself and the people around him. From there, exit the area through a fence door, and you’ll reach a dueling ring under the shade of the crimson tree.

As soon as you’re there, you’ll need to fight the Sword Thief in a duel for the Storm Blade. Defeat him, and as soon as he’s finished, you’ll pick up the Storm Blade in a cutscene. As soon as you do, you’ll learn the Dance of Wrath technique, which lets you jump between enemies and lands three quick attacks between each of them to finish them, just like Jin did.

As soon as all the enemies are defeated, Ugetsu will appear and narrate Jin’s story on how he became the Ghost of Tsushima to Atsu, and show her Jin’s grave where you’ll learn he spent his final days here in Ezo.

Walk closer to Jin’s tombstone and bow down to it. As soon as you do that, Jin’s Ghost Mask will automatically appear in front of you. Interact with it and pick it up. Now you’ll have the mask stored in your inventory.

To use the Storm Blade, head to your Weapons in the Gear Menu and under Katana, choose the Storm Blade as your Sword Kit. To use the Mask, choose Masks in the Gear Menu and use the Ghost Mask that Jin once wore to defeat the Mongols in Ghost of Tsushima.
