- Fortnite players can unlock the free Hairpin skin by playing Rocket League matches.
- Players must play Rocket League with the same Epic account as Fortnite.
- The skin will be available to unlock until August 7.
Fortnite continues to surprise its player base with free skins and items, sending them into a frenzy with each new release. Epic Games keeps its devoted community engaged through limited-time events and brand collabs that provide players with exclusive cosmetics without requiring them to spend V-Bucks.
From account-linking promotions with LEGO to in-game challenges like the Celestial Strike questline, these freebies are a big appeal, especially for casual players who want to customize their characters with colorful skins like Iridia Vayne. The excitement of unlocking rare cosmetics drives intense player dedication, where fans share XP exploits and show off their new looks.
This summer, the excitement builds with the second annual Summer Road Trip event, which begins on July 22, where players can unlock a free Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 vehicle and more rewards. But that’s not all – you can also unlock a free Fortnite skin called Hairpin, but there’s a catch.
Unlock Free Hairpin Fortnite Skin and League Balloon Glider in Rocket League
To unlock the free Hairpin Outfit and League Balloon Glider in Fortnite during the Summer Road Trip 2025 event, players must complete particular Rocket League challenges, as these cosmetics cannot be earned directly in Fortnite.
The Rocket League event takes place from July 22 to August 4, 2025, and there is only a limited time to claim these rare items. To earn the Hairpin Outfit, players must make 15 or more heroic saves in online Rocket League matches. This requires smart gameplay, including proper posture to properly block opponent shots.
Furthermore, playing a single private match with custom mutators enabled unlocks the League Balloon Glider, which is supposed to mimic an enlarged Rocket League ball. To set this up, start a private match in Rocket League, change the mutator settings (such as ball size or speed), and finish the game.
Both rewards are Fortnite-specific, which means they are only usable in Fortnite and not in Rocket League. Ensure that your Epic Games account is linked across both games so that rewards can be transferred seamlessly. Check the Rocket League quest menu every day for progress updates, and finish these challenges before the event expires to claim these cosmetics.
