How to Remove PIN (Greyed Out) from Windows 11

Microsoft has been putting a lot of effort into Windows 11 to improve the overall security of laptops and PCs. But sometimes, due to default opt-in settings, users are unable to make key changes to their computers. One such example is users unable to remove the PIN on Windows 11 as the option is greyed out and cannot be clicked. It’s because Microsoft only allows Windows Hello sign-in options for improved security and turning it off may put your computer at risk. Nevertheless, if the remove option next to PIN is greyed out, you can easily disable PIN on Windows 11 using the methods below.

How to Disable PIN on Windows 11 (If Greyed Out)

1. Use the Windows 11 keyboard shortcutWindows + I” to open Settings.

Thank you so much, it worked for me, now i have changed my pin requirements🫡

Didn’t work. If I disable the PIN, then I’m obliged to sign in using my Microsoft password. There’s just no way I can disable both.

Was able to remove PIN but now I cannot sign into any site where I have stored the username and password using the Chrome browser.

(I have saved my site passwords using that option, so yeah, I would like to view my incoming mail among other things. Let the Google Password saver do its job. Despite my opening up my browser’s saved usernames and passwords, I am now required to do this every time since I had taken the bait after the second offer of Windows Hello included that I can turn it off in Settings. Matter of fact, I went back to turn on the Hello PIN because four digits are easier to remember than site usernames and passwords. However, I want the Hello nonsense gone and let me do as I have for years, use Google’s password saver. No wait. No repeated delays to pause to display and ask to input the PIN. I would much appreciate your advice on repairing the fallout of using Windows Hello for a few hours on my prior ability to zip around by using the Google password saver.. )
