In episode 12, we see that Carter was tending to the horses when he noticed the untamed and unpredictable black stallion, the “Man-Eater” knocked down his bucket of water. Carter got into the horse’s stable and got the bucket out filling it up with water. However, when he went back to put the bucket down, the stallion cornered him and was minutes away from hurting Carter badly.

This is when Colby shows up and listening to Carter’s cry for help, runs into the stable. Colby manages to get Carter out of there but before Carter comes back with a shotgun and kills the horse, it has already kicked Colby to death. This news was given to Ryan, Colby’s best friend at the 6666 Ranch in Mexico. Ryan gave this news to Teeter, Colby’s love interest who broke down immediately after listening about Colby’s demise.

Nobody expected Colby to die in Yellowstone, this is as tragic to the fans as John Dutton’s death. Colby has been a core character of the show and his going out like that points towards how Yellowstone is moving towards its end. So, let’s see what happens next and till then, stay tuned!
