With its irreverent humor, talking alien firearms, and bright sci-fi universe, the first game became a smash sensation, topping Steam sales rankings and dominating Xbox Game Pass during its launch week. High of Life 2 attempts to do the same, as it’s all set to launch in February 2026. And based on everything we’ve seen so far, the game, somehow, seems even zanier and more unhinged.

High on Life 2 will be available on PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. It will also be a part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription on day one, with a Nintendo Switch 2 release reportedly planned for April 20, 2026.
As showcased in its 42-minute gameplay demo, High on Life 2 picks up exactly where its predecessor left off. A dark character from the protagonist’s past places a bounty on their sister, propelling the story through vibrant other worlds, including conventions such as ParkingCon and MurderCon, to dismantle a sinister pharma cartel.
Our hero’s arsenal now features more weapons and special gear, including a skateboard that is essentially a stand-in for the removed sprint mechanic. You can use the board to grind on rails and jump off rumps while pulling off all sorts of trick shots. The sequel is also leaning into the first game’s metroidvania influences to make the platforming more expansive.
Of course, the talking guns are back, officially named Gatlians, and the lineup includes Sweezy (a laser pistol voiced by Betsy Sodaro), Gus (a shotgun voiced by J.B. Smoove), and newcomer Sheath (a battle rifle voiced by Ralph Ineson), each having their own primary, alternate, and “trick hole” skills.
