Samsung-owned Harman International has launched JBL Free, a ‘truly wireless in-ear headphone’ that is expected to compete with the likes of Apple AirPods and Bose SoundSport Free, as well as the new Sony Xperia Duo wireless earbuds. The device has been priced at Rs. 9,999, and will be available for purchase at various online and offline stores across the country, including the company’s own webstore – harmanaudio.in – as well as at 350 Samsung stores across the country.
The JBL Free was originally showcased at the IFA 2017 in Berlin, Germany, and features 5.6mm drivers that have a frequency response between 10Hz and 22KHz. The earbuds also have Bluetooth connectivity with support for A2DP v1.3, AVRCP v1.6, HFP v1.6, and HSP v1.2, all of which enables a seamless cross-platform experience.
According to Sumit Chauhan, Vice President at HARMAN India’s Lifestyle Audio division, “The cord-free earbuds encourage music lovers and executives to break up from wires and neckbands for truly unrestricted movement”.
In terms of ergonomics, the JBL Free earbuds come with three ear-tip sizes and two silicone sleeve sizes to ensure an impeccable and secure fit. Users can also interchange ear-tips and sleeves for nine different size combinations. The earbuds are also said to be build using sweat and water resistant materials, which means they can be used in the rain without any worries about liquid damage.
JBL is also emphasizing on the battery-life of its latest earphones, asserting that they can last up to 24-hours on a single charge, thanks to a smart charging case that provides for up to 4 hours of continuous listening and a 20-hour battery backup. It also offers a 15-minute quick-charge mode that adds an hour of music playback, says that company.
