Final Destination: Bloodlines Reveals a Bold New Way to Trick Death

In Short
  • JB reveals a new technique to cheat death in Final Destination: Bloodlines.
  • The trick is to die and then get revived by another person.
  • Until now, the one to dodge death was Kimberly Corman, who died in Final Destination 2 and was then resurrected by a doctor.

Death has not spared anyone in the Final Destination universe. To be honest, if you’re watching an FD movie, don’t expect a happy ending; no matter how hard the protagonists try, Death doesn’t lose, and it gets what it wants. However, as revealed by William Bludworth in the first installment, the only way to defy Death is to kill someone and steal the remaining years of life they are left with. This was the only mantra fans were familiar with, well, until Bloodlines arrived.

In Final Destination Bloodlines, when Stefanie visits JB in the hospital, the first thing they realize is that the man doesn’t need their introduction. The man then reveals his true identity, which connects him to Stef’s maternal grandmother, Iris. The film lets us know that JB was a child when he first came across Iris in the Sky Tower. Later, he explains the infamous trick of dodging Death that the fandom is acquainted with. However, this time, JB talks about a second method that might help Stef and her remaining family survive Death.

The fresh trick suggests that if one wants to cheat Death, they must die and get revived to stop the curse. JB also tells Stef about Kimberly Corman, who was drowned in Final Destination 2 but was revived by Dr. Kalarjian.

Erik and Bobby tried the bold, death-defying technique, but they eventually got killed because Death is way smarter than it appears. Bobby was the next on Death’s list, and instead of helping the boy, Erik made it easier for Death to get to him. The boy undermines Death and decides to make Bobby eat peanut butter cups, as he is allergic to them. He thought that as they were in the hospital, doctors would save Bobby, putting an end to the killings.

However, things go south when the magnetic force of the MRI machine kills Erik, and Bobby is impaled by the vending machine’s spring. So, you could say that no one can save you if you are on Death’s ‘hitlist.’

Interestingly, at the end of the movie, Charlie saves Stefanie from drowning. While the boy thought that he had brought his sister back from the dead, it was later revealed that the girl was simply unconscious. So what unfolds next? They were both killed after a train derailed from the tracks. It’s, of course, refreshing that there’s a new way to cheat Death, but it’s unfortunate that no one in Bloodlines could survive using this technique.
