Getting a Sandbike will undoubtedly be the first thing on the checklist of most players after booting up Dune Awakening. The desert racer makes traversing the vast dunes of Arrakis much easier and lets you explore beyond the Hagga Basin region from the game’s intro. The three-wheeled vehicle also offers a speedy getaway from Sandworms and protection from the unforgiving sun. Most of all, it’s aesthetic bleeds futurism and functionality, and who wouldn’t want that as their trio of wheels?
So, if you want to try the vehicle out for yourself, here’s how to get the Sandbike in Dune Awakening.
How to Get Your First Sandbike in Dune Awakening
The most straightforward way to get a Sandbike in Dune Awakening is to follow the main questline. The first few hours of the game are riddled with tutorial missions, and one of the final introductory quests will teach you how to craft a Sandbike.
Named ‘Across the Gap,’ the mission asks you to ransack Imperial Testing Station #2 and loot a set of crafting items used in the Sandbike recipe. Naturally, you’ll also be asked to research the Sandbike Mk1 schematics as part of the quest.

Once the resource trip is done, you can return to base and craft the vehicle’s components using a Fabricator. Alongside the Particle Capacitors that you obtained in the Testing Station, you’ll need Advanced Servoks and a ton of Copper Ore. Here’s an overview of the desert bike’s components and crafting requirements:
- Sandbike Chassis Mk1: 12 Copper Ingots, 5 Advanced Servoks
- Sandbike Engine Mk1: 5 Copper Ingots, 3 Particle Capacitors
- Sandbike Hull Mk1: 12 Copper Ingots, 5 Advanced Servoks
- Sandbike PSU Mk1: 5 Copper Ingots, 3 Particle Capacitors
- Sandbike Tread Mk1: 3 Copper Ingots, 1 Advanced Servoks (x3 since you’ll need to craft three Treads)
Copper is in ample supply all across the Hagga Basin region. You’ll frequently find deposits of the metal embedded in rocks, alongside bits of ore sitting on the ground. To create Copper Ingots, you must process 5 bits of ore using an Ore Refinery station.
The best way to meet the Advanced Servok and Particle Capacitor requirements is to ransack the Imperial Station once again. Make sure to wait for 45 minutes of real time to let the chests inside the facility reset. After that, you can rinse and repeat until you have enough of the materials.
Once you’ve created all the parts of a Sandbike, you’ll need to craft a Welding Torch to put them together. Its recipe requires 6 Copper Ingots. In addition to this, you’ll need to set up a Small Chemical Refinery to craft Fuel Cells to power your vehicle.
Its building requirements include 45 Copper Ingots. If you’re short on resources, you can make do with the fuel cells you’re more than likely to have looted during resource runs, at least in the short term. With all the bits and pieces together, you’re finally ready to ride out on your very own Sandbike.
Dune Awakening Sandbike Tips and Tricks

With the Sandbike fully assembled, you can ride out in any direction and explore Dune Awakening’s open world as you see fit. But to learn more about the vehicle and keep it secure, we recommend checking out these tips:
- Craft a Vehicle Backup Tool: The VBT is an essential piece of gear that lets you park and summon your vehicle anytime and anywhere. It also works as a last-ditch resort to keep your vehicle from being permanently lost if you’re eaten by a Sandworm and devoured by a Coriolis Storm.
- Sandbikes can be repaired: Over time, your three-wheeled racer will become damaged and require repairs. To get it back in shape, craft the Welding Wire using the Fabricator. Now, equip your Welding Torch and cycle through its functions until you land on the ‘Repair’ option. Hover over individual bike components to check their health and weld accordingly.
- Add a seat for your buddy: If you’re playing with a friend, you can turn your Sandbike into a two-seater by crafting the Sandbike Inventory Mk1 and the Sandbike Backseat Mk1 components. Both vehicle parts require 12 Copper Ingots and 7 Advanced Servoks.
- Customize its color: With the Welding Torch equipped, cycle to the ‘Customize’ option and you’ll see a variety of color swatches and faction-specific styles that you can use.
- Craft the Sandbike Scanner: This vehicle add-on is essentially the Handheld Resource Scanner, but for your Sandbike. It allows you to drive around and look for resources at the same time. The tool is a wise investment, especially if you’re interested in finding buried treasures in Dune Awakening.
