Deadlock: How Spirit Power Really Works? Explained

As any gamer around the block, they will tell you that MOBA games are sometimes too complex to understand. Deadlock as a MOBA is a game that is fairly easy to get. What is Spirit Power in Deadlock?

Put very simply, Spirit Power in Deadlock increases the damage your abilities deal. If you compare it to Dota 2, Spirit power is Intelligence. However, that doesn’t mean Spirit Power can’t do more.

It can increase your ability damage, and resistance, and even decrease your opponent’s resistance. In short, Spirit power can add to many other stats that are affected by Spirit count.

Deadlock has three key powers that directly connect to your base and other stats. These are Weapon, Vitality, and Spirit. Bullet is straight up your normal attack damage, melee damage, or heavy melee damage along with fire rate and ammo capacity.

How Does Spirit Power Work in Deadlock?

Well, every hero in Deadlock deals ability damage. This ability damage can get higher with Spirit power. You can increase your Spirit Power too. You increase your Spirit power through items or collecting Spirit boosts (mid-map buff, urn, or boxes and statues). With more Spirit power, your abilities will deal more damage in Deadlock. But that is not it.

You can even reduce ability damage coming towards you by building some Spirit damage reduction items. Similarly, you can make enemies more vulnerable to Spirit damage through certain items.

Although Spirit power is connected to ability damage, not all damage is affected by it. To know which ability will get the Spirit power boost, you must check the upward arrow sign with the Spirit power icon on an ability.

This means that if your ability deals 60 damage and you have a Spirit power indicator added, your ability will deal “60 (base damage) + your Spirit power * spirit power coefficient” as the final damage. For abilities, the coefficient is written on the indicator.

Even some items are affected by Spirit power if they deal certain ability damage. One of the few examples is Tesla Bullets and Toxic Bullets. In that case, the formula will be the same but the spirit power coefficient will be hidden. To find that out, apply (Spirit Damage – Base Damage)/Spirit power formula.

With Spirit power affecting damage on both hero abilities and item damage, this makes it one of the most important stats to upgrade in the game. Keep in mind that the multiplier value changes with different heroes and abilities. That is why heroes that benefit most from Spirit power are dominating the Deadlock pick and win rate.

Best Spirit Power Items in Deadlock

Now that you know how important Spirit power is in Deadlock and how it works, you’ll need some good Spirit items. The Spirit items normally grant you a certain number of Spirits. Without the additional perks, these are divided into four categories: +4, +8, +12, and +16 Spirit.

However, if you want to make your own Spirit power build, you can go for Extra Charge, Mystic Reach, and Boundless Spirit. Buy the items that not only increase your Spirit count but also can reduce enemy Spirit resistance by making them vulnerable.
