- It is not necessary to watch The Punisher before Daredevil: Born Again unless you want to learn more about the character arc of Punisher.
- Daredevil (2015) was followed by several shows like Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and The Defenders; however, it is not strictly necessary to watch them all before Daredevil: Born Again.
- Dardevil Born Again is set to premiere on March 4, 2025, with two episodes.
Daredevil: Born Again is closing in on its release and the anticipation for the upcoming show is reaching new heights. However, there is a tiny little problem. The original Daredevil show came out in 2015, and between the first season and the third one, a lot happened outside the show while introducing us to multiple characters from the same universe. Now, this might throw off some people with the thought of “there’s a lot to watch before Daredevil: Born Again,” if nothing else, at least The Punisher since he is coming back. However, since you are here on this page, I’m pretty sure you are as hardcore a fan as I am. So, let me give you a complete watch order of Daredevil and everything around it!
Complete Daredevil Watch Order

When Marvel shows were being aired on Netflix, Daredevil Season 1 was the first chapter of the Defenders saga. Following its release, Jessica Jones was released, introducing Luke Cage, who later got his standalone series, followed by the introduction of The Punisher in Daredevil Season 2, as well as the release of Iron Fist.
Considering the number of shows before the release of Defenders and further seasons of the previously released show, below you can find a list featuring the complete watch order of the Daredevil saga.
Daredevil Watch Order
- Daredevil Season 1 (10 April 2015)
- Jessica Jones Season 1 (20 November 2015)
- Daredevil Season 2 (18 March 2016)
- Luke Cage Season 1 (30 September 2016)
- Iron Fist Season 1 (17 March 2017)

- Daredevil: Born Again (4 March 2025)
Now I know the number of shows here is massive, and it’s kind of impossible to binge all of this before the Daredevil: Born Again release date. However, the silver lining here is that watching all of the above-mentioned shows is not strictly necessary before you jump in on the premiere of Daredevil: Born Again. As long as you are fluent about everything that went down in all three seasons of Daredevil (2015), you are quite sorted for the upcoming show. If you are not, check out our detailed piece on what happens at the end of Daredevil Season 3.
The only condition where it would be necessary is if you want to learn about all the characters involved in the lore of Daredevil. Daredevil Season 1 introduces us to Jessica Jones, the first season of Jessica Jones introduces us to Luke Cage, and Punisher Season 2 introduces us to The Punisher. However, if nothing else, I would recommend you to watch The Defenders since it is the best in this list after Daredevil and The Punisher.
Should You Watch The Punisher Before Daredevil Born Again?

The simple answer to that question is no, you don’t necessarily have to watch The Punisher before Daredevil: Born Again. Jon Bernthal was introduced to us as The Punisher in Daredevil Season 2, and everything he did in the series is enough to understand his motivations and the dynamic he shares with Daredevil/Matt Murdock.
However, if you seek a deeper understanding of the character, only in that case should you watch The Punisher. Nevertheless, if you do decide to watch it, let me assure you that it will be worth your time.
So, if you want to dive into the lore of Daredevil and everything around him, it’s high time for you to get your binge on while we wait for the release of Daredevil: Born Again, and till then, stay tuned for more updates.
