Apple Lowers MacBook Air, MacBook Pro Prices For College Students

Apple Cuts price of Macbook Air

Apple today updated its MacBook Air by adding ‘True Tone’ to its Retina display for what the company claims will be a more natural viewing experience. The Cupertino giant also reduced the price of its entry-level MacBook Air to Rs. 99,900 in India, with an even lower price of Rs. 92,704 for college students.

In addition, the entry-level MacBook Pro has also been updated with Intel’s 8th-generation Core processors, a built-in Touch Bar (with Touch ID support), a True Tone Retina display and the Apple T2 Security Chip. It is priced at Rs. 119,900 for general buyers, but is available at Rs. 111,264 for college students.

Both the models are part of Apple’s ‘Back to School’ promotion, targeted at students and teachers in a number of countries, including the US and India. As part of the plan, the company is offering a pair of Beats Studio 3 Wireless headphones with the purchase of a qualifying MacBook or iMac. The promotion also includes education discounts on qualifying Macs, iPads, AppleCare subscriptions and various other accessories and services.

According to Apple: “With their sleek, portable designs, Retina displays, great everyday performance, all-day battery life and running macOS, Mac notebooks have never been more popular in higher education. With a lower student price for MacBook Air and the updated 13-inch MacBook Pro with faster performance, Touch Bar and Touch ID, there’s never been a better time to bring a Mac to college”.

Just to recall, the MacBook Air is Apple’s thinnest and lightest laptop that now features a Retina display with True Tone technology, Touch ID, the fixed keyboard and a Force Touch trackpad. As for the MacBook Pro, it offers up to 9th-gen Core i9 octa-core processors, but the base 13-inch model only comes with up to 8th-gen Core i7 quad-core chips. Both will be available through Apple Authorized Re-sellers from July 25.
