Abyss mutations are an important mechanic as they add bonus value to your fish and make them look attractive. Whenever you go exploring the waters near the safe domes, there’s a chance of fish spawning with certain mutations. You can either notice the change in their appearance with your eyes or use the radar found in front of Richard’s bestiary stall at Forgotten Deep.
Some of these mutations can provide a small cash multiplier, while others can multiply your profits manyfold. However, the latter ones are extremely rare, and the best way of getting them is server hopping. You can check our guide on All Abyss Locations to learn more about where to find the exclusive mutations. With that said, let’s check out the list of all available Abyss mutations along with their multiplier values.

All Abyss Mutations Explained
Now that you’ve gone through the overview of all fish mutations, here’s a complete breakdown for each of them.
Poop
This is the lowest-tier mutation in Abyss, and rather than providing any profit on the fishes you catch, this mutation reduces their sell value. This one is the worst possible mutation in the game, and do avoid it unless you want to diversify your collection.
Rock
The Rock mutation gives a rough texture to the fish skins in Abyss. You might not identify this mutation from far away, as there is no color change, but using a radar can quickly help you identify it. There is no gain in catching such fishes, because the rock mutation has a 1x cash multiplier.
Coral

The Coral mutation gives the fishes a combination of blue and dull red color. These are fairly easy to spot early on, and you are going to find a ton of these for completing the early quests in Abyss. However, coral mutated fishes can only increase the cash gain by 1.1x.
Moss

The moss mutation applies a greenish and stony look to the fishes. Although they can be found anywhere in the game, you would commonly spot them around the Forgotten Deep. The moss mutated fishes can increase the cash gain by 1.1x.
Metal

The metal mutated fishes again becomes slightly difficult to spot if the fish is silver in color. You can find these anywhere in the ocean and at all three locations as well. These can increase the value of fishes by 1.2x.
Sand

Next up is the sand mutation, the first one on this list to appear exclusively in the Ancient Sands region. If you’re already there, do check our Abyss guns progression guide to find the best gun to hunt these. The sand mutation increases the value of fishes by 1.25x.
Albino
The Albino mutation gives fishes a pale white color and makes them really easy to spot in the ocean. This mutation can increase the value by 1.3x times and is quite rare to find. You’ll be required to find a lot of these to complete the early Abyss quests.
Transparent
The transparent mutation, as the name suggests, gives fish a see-through look. This one can increase the value of fishes by 1.35x. You can find them anywhere in Abyss, and you will require to find four of these to complete the last of Morveth’s quest.
Cactus

The cactus mutation can only be found at the Ancient Sands, and can increase the value of fishes by 1.45x. This gives them a combination of green and yellow color, so you can spot them easily.
Spirit

The Spirit mutation is native to the Spirit Roots region. It gives the fish a transparent greenish appearance and boosts their value by 1.7x times.
Fossil

The fossil mutation is exclusive to the Ancient Sands region and gives the fishes a bony texture. Note that catching more of these doesn’t guarantee more fish bones. The fossil mutation can increase the value of fishes by 1.75x.
Golden

You can find the golden mutated fishes anywhere in Abyss. Fishes with this mutation have a golden appearance, and dollar signs emerging from it. This boosts its price by 2 times.
Negative

The negative mutated fishes can again appear anywhere in the Abyss, and it inverts their color. Therefore, it becomes really easy to find these out in the ocean, and they can boost the selling value of fishes by 2 times.
Fairy

The fairy mutation is found only in the Spirit Roots region. You can spot fishes with this mutation from their glowing pink color. Catching them is really worth it because fishes with this mutation have a 2.3 times increased sale value.
Invisible
One of the most difficult to spot mutations is the invisible one. Fishes with this mutation have just a faint outline. However, this one can boost the price of fishes by 2.4 times.
Neon
The neon mutation makes the fishes glow in Abyss. Again, a fairly easy one to spot, and once you catch these, you can sell them for 2.8 times their original value.
Ultraviolet

The ultraviolet mutation gives fishes a purple and transparent look. But you can see the outline of the fish clearly, helping you spot them from a far distance. This one can increase the sale value of fishes by 3.6 times.
Rooted
The rooted mutation is native to the Spirit Roots area and is extremely rare to find. This one can increase the value of the fish by 4.2 times. You can spot them from the pale greenish look, and some minute, glowing green particles emerging out of them.
Shadow

The shadow mutation gives fishes a transparent black color and turns their eyes red. You can find these anywhere, but they are quite rare. Once found, they can increase the price of fishes by 6.66 times. Since they’re found more in common than the Angelic, Abyssal and other mutations above them, looking out for these is one of the best ways to make money fast in Abyss.
Angelic
The angelic mutation gives fishes a bright yellow color, the opposite of shadow. This one can boost the selling value of fishes 7.77x and can be found anywhere in the game.
Abyssal
The abyssal mutated fishes are found everywhere and increase the value of fishes by 8.5 times. This one gives them a deep blue body with glowing parts, making it easy to spot early on.
Cupid

The cupid mutation is limited during the Valentine’s event and gives the fishes diffrent shades of pink alongisde heart particles emerging out of them. The fishes with this mutation can sell for 1.4x value and are required for the Big Boss quest.
Lonely

The second Valentine’s Day-specific mutation is lonely, and it gives the fishes a bright pink color with heart particles emerging out of them. These are quite rare to find but can increase the value of fishes by 2 times.
