In the latest episode of #AskMadhav on YouTube, Realme CEO, Madhav Sheth, has answered a few interesting questions regarding the company’s newly-launched smartphones, the Realme 5 and 5 Pro. First off, Sheth said that the official bootloader unlocking option will be made available within a month, which means users should expect to see that some time in September.

Sheth also said that the company will soon roll out an update to add a new ‘screen-on time’ menu item to the phones’ battery usage details, enabling users to see how long their device has been in use. The feature will also be rolled out to older Realme phones via an OTA update in the future, with the exact update schedule to be announced in the coming days. The devices will also soon be available offline, he said.

Realme launched its latest mid-range smartphones last week as part of its plans to compete with Xiaomi, which made a splash earlier this year with its Redmi Note 7-series and the Redmi K20-series, both of which received widespread accolades and set the sales charts on fire.

As for the Realme 5-series, both devices in the lineup come with quad-cam setups at the back, but while the standard model comes with a 12MP primary camera, the ‘Pro’ model offers a 48MP primary sensor. Other major differences include a 6.5-inch HD+ display panel on the Realme 5 as opposed to a 6.3-inch FHD+ panel on the 5 Pro. Also, while the former is powered by the Snapdragon 665 SoC, the latter comes with the Snapdragon 712 under-the-hood.
