Google recently unveiled its brand new smartphone Nexus 5 at Play Store. Nexus 4, the predecessor was a hit last year, Nexus 4 set a benchmark among expensive off contract flagship smartphones with some impressive top-notch hardware, this year Nexus 5 launched with some refinements over its predecessor and upgraded hardware and software. Nexus 5 provides pure Android experience, Nexus 5 has faster processor, better camera, thinner and lighter design than nexus 4, bigger battery, more storage option and improved screen quality.
Lets compare the features and specifications of Nexus 5 with Nexus 4.
1. Design & Dimensions
Nexus 4: It has holographic glass coated body and glittering finish at the back, the dimensions are 133.9 x 68.7 x 9.1 mm and weighs approximately 139 grams.
Nexus 5: It is thinner and lighter than its predecessor, weighing just 130 grams, the dimensions are 137.8 x 69.1 x 8.6 mm. It has matte finish poly-carbonate body at the back.
Nexus 4: It features a 4.7-inch True HD IPS Plus LCD panel with screen resolution of 1280×738 pixels (HD ) and pixel density of 318 ppi. The screen has corning gorilla glass 2 scratch resistant protection.
Nexus 5: It features a 4.95 inch FULL HD IPS plus display with screen resolution of 1080 X 1920 and pixel density of 445 ppi. The display is much sharper and doesn’t look as faded as in Nexus 4 producing exact colors. The screen has corning gorilla glass 3 scratch resistant protection.

3. Hardware and Sensors
Nexus 4: It features 1.5 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon s4 pro processor based on Krait 200 and Adreno 320 GPU. The handset has Micro USB, Slim Port, 3.5 mm headphone jack, accelerometer, compass, Proximity /Ambient light, Gyroscope, Pressure and GPS.
Nexus 5: It features 2.3 GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor based on krait 400 and Adreno 330 GPU. Apart from all the sensors provided in Nexus 4, Google and LG has provided dual microphones and smart cover sensor.
4. Memory and Storage
Nexus 4: It has 2 GB of RAM and comes with 8 GB and 16 GB storage options. The device doesn’t support micro SD card.
Nexus 5: It has 2 GB of RAM like its predecessor, the device also comes with 16 GB and 32 GB storage options and like its predecessor the storage is non-expandable.
5. Operating System
Nexus 4: It comes out of the box with Android 4.2 Jellybean, the device has already received the Android 4.3 OTA update.
Nexus 5: It comes out of the box with Android 4.4 KitKat which includes many new features and battery saving integration with hardware.
Nexus 4: It features 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and front 1.3 MP camera which can shoot videos at 1080 p FULL HD.
Nexus 5: It features 8 MP rear camera with LED flash and Optical Image Stabilization to aid low light photography and capturing photos with shaky hands. It also has HDR+ mode for producing best shot.

Nexus 4: The device features Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, WiFi a/b/g/n,operating frequencies are GSM – 850, 900, 1800, 1900 and UMTS – 2100.
Nexus 5: The device features Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, WiFi a/b/g/n/ac and operates in all GSM, 3G and most of the 4G LTE bands.
Nexus 4: It has 2100 mAh Li-Polymer non removable battery with usage time of 11 hours on 2G and 564 hours of standby time.
Nexus 5: It has 2300 mAh Li- Polymer non removable battery with 17 hours of talk time and 300 hours of standby time.

9. Price and Availability
Nexus 4: The 8 GB Nexus 4 sold for $299 while the 16 GB sold for $349 and was available at the Google Play Store . The device is available in black and white color.
Nexus 5: 16 GB Nexus 5 is selling for $349 while the 32 GB is selling for $399 and is now available at the Google Play Store in many countries, and soon in many other countries including India for around 29k INR for 16 GB model and 32k INR for 32 GB model. The device is available in black and white color.
