Xiaomi’s latest Android One smartphone, Mi A2 has received an important software update that has brought a few notable additions to the device. The incoming software update is 380MB in size, and comes with build number OPM1.171019.011.V9.6.10.0.ODIMIFE.

The update brings the August Android security patch to the Mi A2. The patch was released for the Pixel handsets earlier this month, but there’s no clarification about the exact vulnerabilities it fixes. The update also enables 60fps video recording at 1080p. The device could shoot 1080p videos only at 30fps before the update.

As with all software updates, this one is being rolled out in batches, and should be available universally in the coming days. While users will automatically receive a notification once the update is available for their device, they can also manually check for the availability by going over to Settings > System > System Update > Check for update.

The latest update for the Mi A2 comes just days after the device was announced for the Indian market. It went on its first ‘pre-order sale’ on August 9, but in true Xiaomi style, the sale was over within minutes on both Amazon and Mi.com, giving fans very little time to book their unit.

It’s worth noting here that the Mi A2 went on its first flash sale in India earlier today on Amazon and Mi.com, and as expected, was sold out in a matter of seconds. The next sale is scheduled for next Thursday, August 23rd.

The Mi A2 is the successor to Xiaomi’s first-ever Android One handset, the Mi A1, and is the global variant of the Mi 6X that was launched in China earlier this year. It comes with a price-tag that starts at Rs. 16,999 for the base variant with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage. Xiaomi is also expected to launch a 6GB+128GB version of the device, but there’s no ETA for that at the moment.
