Where to Find Ice and Farm it in Valheim
Ice is a unique material in Valheim that can be found in great quantity exclusively in the Deep North. However, with everything frozen solid, knowing where to look can be challenging. That said, we recommend searching along the coastline to find large sheets of ice floating in the water. Use a Pickaxe to break these sheets to collect Ice in Valheim.
If you feel using a Pickaxe is too slow, you can resort to using Ember Charges. After being thrown, they explode briefly and can be used to break frozen ponds found farther inland. Just remember to stay out of the blast radius, or you can lose a good chunk of HP. It is also needed in the production of Bloodgold in Valheim, so you might as well create a few extra for later use.
If the aforementioned methods seem to take too much time, consume too many resources, or you don’t have the materials at hand, there’s an easier alternative to get Ice in Valheim. You can resort to breaking frozen creatures in Valheim, such as Skeletons and Greydwarves, as well as Black Ice Shards.
You can spot them throughout the Deep North, and since they can’t fight back, it makes the task a breeze. Use a Grappling Hook in Valheim to move around and cover ground to find these frozen corpses. Just be careful; not all creatures you encounter are frozen. Some are alive and can attack you if you wander too close. The good news is, some of them also drop Ice when eliminated.

Ice is used for quite a few things in Valheim’s Deep North, but for the most part, you’re going to need it to fuel the Frigid Kiln. This allows you to produce Liquid Frost, which is needed to operate the Frost Foundry.
