Here’s How Many Items You Can Track Using Apple’s Find My App

In Short
  • In a recently updated support page, Apple has confirmed that it has increased the number of items you can track using the Find My app.
  • Previously, it was possible to track only 16 items. Now, you can track up to 32 items on the Find My app.
  • You can also track third-party Find My supported accessories like e-bikes, TWS, and item finders using the Find My app.

Apple’s Find My app harnesses the power of the vast Apple ecosystem and relies on billions of Apple devices to help users locate and track items. The process is easy, add your device to the Find My app and you will get its location on the map in the app. Today, Apple has confirmed that it has increased the number of items that you track using the Find My app.

Previously, Apple allowed tracking of up to 16 items using the app, now this limit has been doubled. In a support document, Apple revealed that it is now possible to track up to 32 Find My compatible items on the Find My app.

Apple Find My network

Find My network is an expansive network of all active Apple devices including iPhones, iPads, Macs, Apple Watch and more. The network is encrypted and uses secure Bluetooth technology to relay the approximate location of nearby devices, making it easier to find lost devices even when they are not connected to mobile data or a Wi-Fi network.

Apple further clarifies on the support page that it counts one unit of any item as one item irrespective of the generation it belongs to. For example, Apple AirPods 3rd Gen will be counted as one item, AirPods Max and AirPods Pro will be counted as two items and if you add AirPods Pro 2nd Gen to the list, they will be counted as three items.

In addition to Apple proprietary items, you can also add third-party Find My supported accessories like VenMoof’s S3 and X3 e-bikes, Belkin’s SOUNDFORM Freedom True Wireless Earbuds, and Chipolo ONE Spot Item finder.

Apple bumping up the limit for items allowed for tracking via the Find My app is a welcome move. While we have never heard someone complain that Apple only allows 16 items to be tracked, with the ever-increasing Apple lineup (hello! Vision Pro), 32 items are more than sufficient.
