Agatha All Along: Is Goth Teen Wanda’s son Billy Maximoff?

Agatha All Along dropped its first two episodes on Disney Plus and introduced us to the primary characters, including the Heartstopper famed actor Joe Locke. He portrays the Goth Teen, who comes to Agatha’s rescue and frees her from Wanda’s spell. Well, it seems the creators don’t want fans to learn about the character so soon, and that’s why whenever the boy talks about his name or his background, no one can hear anything. Well, there are some fan theories out there stating that Goth Teen is no one but Wanda’s son, Billy Maximoff. So, is it true? Let’s check it out.

As this is Joe Locke’s first appearance in MCU and the show restricts us from knowing much about the character in the first two episodes, we don’t have any clue about the mysterious and mystical character at the moment. Fans speculate that he is Billy Maximoff, especially when the teenager shows interest in the Witches’ Road after crossing paths with Agatha Harkness, the one who guided Wanda to cross the road in Scarlet Witch #3. Goth Teen also mentioned in the TV Show about his dead mother, and as we got a glimpse of Wanda’s covered dead body, the possibility suggests that he could be Billy.

Goth Teen was the one to free Agatha from Wanda’s spells, so maybe he wants her to help him walk the Witches’ Road and get what he desires. While other witches might want to take the risk in order to become powerful, the motivation of the Goth Teen might be to get her mother back at the end of the road.

Well, for the time being, there’s no specific answer to this question, but we can expect to learn more about the character in the further episodes of Agatha All Along. As WandaVision’s Billy was just a part of Wanda’s imagination, it would be intriguing to see him come to life in Agatha All Along.

Why Is Goth Teen Not Able to Speak His Name in Agatha All Along?

Agatha lived a fake life in Westview for three years until the teen boy entered her life. The boy broke into her house and made her realize who she was. He knew everything about the powerful witch and wanted her to take him to the Witches’ Road.

However, whenever Teen speaks about himself to Agatha, either his voice gets muted or his mouth gets stitched with mystical ink. It’s possibly because he is under a spell, which prevents him from speaking his name. Also, if he is truly Billy (which, to be honest, is quite possible), the creators decided to put him under this spell to keep his identity a secret until the end.

Who Is Billy Maximoff in the Marvel Comics?

In the Marvel comics, Billy doesn’t use Maximoff as his last name; instead, he goes by Billy Kaplan. However, the stories of Billy Kaplan (from comics) and Billy Maximoff (from TV shows) are similar. In the TV show, Wanda created an anomaly and created Billy and his twin brother Tommy. They only existed within the Hex and grew up incredibly fast. However, they disappeared from existence when Wanda got rid of the Hex. In fact, it was after losing her children that Wanda completely embraced her dark side in Doctor Strange 2.

Similarly, in the comics, Wanda used her powers to create twin brothers William and Thomas. She does this after getting married to Vision. She creates these children using two lost souls. After these souls were reclaimed by Mephisto, so like in the TV show and the comic book, Wanda also loses her children.

However, later on, William and Thomas’ souls escaped from Mephisto’s captivity. After getting dispersed, William’s soul gets reincarnated into Billy Kaplan, the son of Jeff Kaplan and Rebbecca Kaplan. Since Billy’s soul was previously tangled with Wanda’s magic, the boy started developing magical powers. He gets incredibly powerful and becomes a member of the Young Avengers.
