What is “Connections”?
NYT’s ‘Connections’ is a puzzle game that’s all the hype on social media these days. You will find people solving and sharing their successes and failures on platforms like X (formerly Twitter), and more. The game is managed by Wyna Liu, NYT’s associate puzzle editor. Connections gives players 16 random words that must be divided into categories they don’t know.

Answers for Today’s Connections Game (July 18)
Are you still stuck with the Connections puzzle? In that case, the answers to today’s Connections are:
- OPEN PLACE – Court, Plaza, Square, Yard
- BOXING UNIT – Bout, Contest, Match, Round
- GLITZINESS – Dazzle, Flash, Pomp, Ritz
- EMOJI – Fire, Heart, Skull, Sparkles
The NYT Connections for July 18 got a weird mixture of emojis and boxing for some reason. I began by solving the Yellow category and immediately got all the words except Plaza. The Green category came next and while I am no boxer, I do love this sport which helped me get it.
The Blue category was all about glamour and it was also today I learned that Ritz stood for Glitziness.
With only four words left, I got them all together to get the Purple category along with the NYT Connections game for July 18.
