Facebook’s Messenger app is soon getting a new Split Payments feature. The feature will allow users to divide the expenses between friends so that paying or getting paid back is easier than ever. Payments will then be processed via Facebook Pay to make things even simpler. Here are all the details about this new feature.

Facebook Messenger Introduces Split Payments Feature

The new Spilt Payments feature is termed as “a free and fast way to share the cost of bills and expenses.” It will roll out for the users in the US, starting next week. There’s no word on whether or not it will be available for users in other countries.

Those wanting to easily split the costs of a dinner or probably the monthly expenses can do so either using the Group Chat or the Payments Hub in Facebook Messenger.

For this, users will have to move to the Payments option in a chat window, tap on the “Get Started” option, divide the expenses as per the need (it could either be split equally or as per a person’s choice), possibly add a message, enter the required Facebook Pay credentials, and the request will be sent to the group members. This split bill request can be viewed in the group chat.

In addition to this, the Meta-owned social media platform has introduced the new Group Effects by collaborating with 4 new creators like King Bach, Emma Chamberlain, Bella Poarch, and Zack King. For those who don’t know, Group Effects allow for a fun way of interacting over Facebook Messenger and Instagram video calls by adding customized AR filters. These new effects will also be available for both the Messenger and Instagram apps.

Lastly, Facebook Messenger has also introduced new Stranger Things-themed and Taylor Swift-inspired Soundmojis. Soundmojis are sound-based emojis you can send to your friends for more fun and interactive conversations.
