Doom The Dark Ages: All Spire of Nerathul Secret Areas

Chapter 14 in Doom The Dark Ages sees the Slayer venture to Nerathul with the task of rescuing Commander Thira. Located within an alternate dimension, the level is made up of dilipidated ruins, underwater sections, and a colossal entity known as the Old One sitting at the center. While the Slayer has his trusty steed to help him navigate through this labyrinth, it remains one of the most difficult chapters to discover secrets in. So, if you’re feeling stumped, check out our guide on all the Secret Areas in the Spire of Nerathul in Doom The Dark Ages.

Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 14 Secret Locations

The Spire of Nerathul in Doom The Dark Ages has a total of 11 secret locations. Some of these are located across different sections of the spire, while others can be found on secret landing spots. Standout collectibles from the chapter include two Wraithstones, two adorable Doom Toys, and a Ruby for good measure. On that note, here are all the secret areas in the level:

Secret Area 1

Keep following the objective markers until you reach the K0modo Champion boss fight in the opening section of the chapter. After defeating the boss, look for some ground leading to the lower level on the left side of the arena. The ground you’re looking for is partially submerged in water, leading to a gold cache.

Secret Area 2

Continue following the main objective until your Cyber Dragon buddy, Serrat, appears. Mount the glorious creature and fly to the hill on the map’s outskirts, as seen in the image above. This is the location of a secret landing spot, but before you can hit the ground, you’ll need to eliminate the titan guarding the area.

Once you’re on the island, it’s a straightforward path to a horde of enemies gathered around a Wraithstone. Defeat them and you’ll be free to grab the upgrade item.

Secret Area 3

Hop back on the dragon, fly towards the spire, and make a beeline for the landing spot located at the bottom. After landing, follow the elevated platform to the end, and then take the stairs leading right near the end of this path. You’ll find a Sentinel Shine sitting at the top of the stairs, and a Life Sigil just beyond it.

Secret Area 4

Now, retrace your steps back to the starting point of the elevated platform, and near the trail of armor pickups. Open up the map and focus on the lower level sitting just below the ground you’re currently on.

The objective is to locate a ledge that lets you dive into the pool of water nearby. Once you’ve found it, swim straight ahead until you find a hole on the floor. Swim through this path, and you’ll end up inside the locked chamber near the landing spot. Here, you can collect a Ruby.

Secret Area 5

Destroy the Statis Emitter on this level, and mount the Cyber Dragon. Fly back to this area’s landing spot, but on this occasion, take the tunnel located on its left. Blaze through the linear path, and you’ll end up at another secret landing spot with a portal just in front. Step inside the portal and tear through the demon horde before collecting the Wraithstone sitting on the other side of the area.

Secret Area 6

For the next batch of secret areas, you’ll need to follow the on-screen marker to the second Statis Emitter, which is located on a shipwreck. There are four hidden spots on this location, starting with a bunch of explosive barrels placed within the structure right in front of the Slayer after arriving on the wreck. Blow them up to reveal a secret lower platform you can follow to collect a Life Sigil.

Secret Area 7

Walk back towards the ship’s main deck and look for a green shield jump point sitting on its walls. Leap towards it using your shield, and then break the red chain counterweight. In the adjoining hall, take the path leading left, and you’ll find a breakable barrier. Shield bash through it to discover the Arachnotron Collectible Toy.

Secret Area 8

On the topmost deck of the ship, you’ll probably have noticed a Ruby Statue placed on a wooden platform. Break the red counterweight hanging nearby and then jump to the lower level to get to it. Breaking the counterweight will release a jump pad, which you can then use to get to the Ruby.

Secret Area 9

The final secret area on the shipwreck is a gold cache that can be accessed by blowing up another bunch of explosive barrels. These red barrels are tucked inside a wall on the right, and blowing them up will reveal a gaping hole that allows you to descend into a hidden location.

Secret Area 10

For the penultimate secret, use the objective markers to make your way to the Stasis Emitter that sits on the uppermost level. After reaching its landing spot, you’ll run into a demon horde almost immediately, which includes one of those stationary beam-firing vehicles.

Head towards this vehicle and turn left to find a trail of gold picks. These lead to a barely-disguised secret tucked within a cave of sorts.

Secret Area 11

The last secret can be found near the final landing spot, right outside the area where you acquire the Ballistic Force Cannon (BFC). To discover it, follow the trail of gold pickups that are strewn along the path you’ll stroll through right after landing. Turn left after climbing the stairs near the last gold pickup, and you’ll spot a scalable platform. Climb it, turn right, and head up the stairs to find a jump pad.

This one will elevate you up to the top of a tower. Once you’re there, peek past the railings and look for a small platform on the other side. After locating it, make the jump and collect the Revenant Toy.
