Doom The Dark Ages’ early chapters waste no time in setting the tempo for the rest of the game. Chapter 6: Siege – Part 1 is a standout mention since it’s one of the open-world levels the devs highlighted in the run-up to launch. With Gore Portals opening up all over the city, the Slayer is tasked with traversing this massive battlefield and ridding it of the demon infestation. Tucked behind secret walls and hidden crevices are many secret locations, all of which are essential for 100% chapter completion. With this in mind, we’ve compiled a guide on all secret areas in Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 6 Siege Part 1.
Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 6 Secret Areas
There are a total of 11 Secret Areas in Chapter 6 of Doom The Dark Ages. Given the level’s open-world approach, players are free to pursue the Gore Portals in whichever order they see fit. This means that your journey through the battlefield could differ significantly from our path. So, you’ll have to rely on the map locations we’ve shared below to find these hidden locations. On that note, here are all the Secret Areas in this chapter:
Secret Area 1
Right after exiting the barracks, keep heading left until you can spot a waterfall hugging the city’s walls. Heading towards it to discover the first Chapter 6 secret area.
Secret Area 2
While fighting through the demon blockade in the image above, look for a scalable platform on the right. Climb it and head inside to find the second secret area. This one houses one of the ruby locations locked behind a metal gate.
Secret Area 3
In the same hidden area, retrace your steps back to the entrance point and turn left to find another locked gate. But to unlock this one, alongside three other hidden locations in this chapter, you’ll need to find the Secret Key. So, check out our guide to discover its location. Unlocking this one will reward you with a weapon skin.
Secret Area 4
This location can be found near the razed battlefield that sits just beyond the swamp-like area. Once you’re nearby, you’ll spot two towering giants duking it out on the horizon. It’s an unmissable sight, so be on the lookout. After finding this duel, take the path leading left, and you’ll soon encounter a horde of demons guarding a narrow pathway. Look to their left, and you’ll find an underground area. This one also houses a metal gate with the Secret Key requirement, so collect it and grab the Ruby hiding inside.
Secret Area 5
Look towards the opposite side of the metal gate in the same underground area. You’ll be able to spot an opening with a scalable platform placed in front. Climb it and follow the trail of armor pickups until a group of fodder enemies attack you. Defeat them, turn right, and follow the trail of gold pickups until you reach the gold cache sitting at the end.
Secret Area 6
The fifth Secret Area is found near a Gore Portal that the Slayer needs to teleport to. We’ve added its map location for reference. Once you’ve entered the portal, solve the puzzle that unlocks the central area and look for a couple of boulders. Climb them and you’ll find a breakable wall on the left. Hurl your shield at it to discover the hidden location.
Secret Area 7
This location sits near the Sentinel Shrine, located on the eastern corner of the map. After discovering the shrine, keep moving forward until you’re ambushed by one of those vicious four-legged demons. Placed right near the demon is an entrance with a Sentinel statue sitting on top. This will become the site of an accessible portal after you’ve defeated the four-legged monstrosity. Head inside to find another Chapter 6 hidden location.
Secret Area 8
The seventh secret area is locked behind the third and final metal gate. As stated earlier, you’ll need the Secret Key to access it. The effort is certainly worth it as you’ll find the adorable Slayer Toy inside.
Secret Area 9
This hidden location requires the Slayer to teleport to a Gore Portal. Fortunately, getting here is more straightforward since you just need to follow the on-screen indicators while venturing through the swamp-like portion of the map. The portal will open up after you’ve defeated the Cyberdemon and Hell Knights guarding the area. Once inside, turn right from the entrance, throw your shield at the breakable wall, and take the door on the right in the adjoining corridor.
Now, look up to find a red counterweight that can be brought down by throwing the shield at it. Move towards the lowered central pillar and turn around to spot a green skeleton that serves as a shield jump point. After leaping towards it, bash into the wooden walkway marked with the green icon. Jump towards the other side, stand on the edge, and look towards the left to find a discreet entrance. Move towards it and take the stairs to find the Secret Area.
Secret Area 10
While exploring the swamp-like region, you’ll run into a chamber with a gold cache locked behind a metal gate. To get on the other side, turn left and move towards the two blue swords as seen in the image. These serve as indicators for an opening that leads underwater. Dive inside, swim to the bottom, and then keep moving forward to emerge on the other end. If you’re being heckled by fireballs along the way, you’re on the right path.
Secret Area 11
Standing in front of the same chamber, look on the right-hand side to spot a scalable platform. Climb it, turn left, and smash through the wall to uncover the final Secret Area.
