Doom The Dark Ages takes its adrenaline-pumping combat to the skies in chapter 5: The Holy City of Aratum. Mounted atop the jaw-dropping Cyber Dragon, the Slayer is tasked with laying siege to the four Hell Carriers. But of course, there’s no shortage of distractions along the way. Most of these come in the form of hidden locations that hide Collectible Toys, Codex entries, weapon skins, and more. On that note, here are all the Secret Areas in Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 5.
Doom The Dark Ages Chapter 5 Secret Areas
Chapter 5 in Doom The Dark Ages features a total of nine Secret Areas. Most of these can be found around the four Hell Carriers and within the city, which are all tied to the main objective. However, three hidden locations, including a Ruby Statue, are located on optional landing spots. On that note, check out all the secret locations below:
Secret Area 1
After landing on the first Hell Carrier, jump through the massive hole you just blew into it to emerge out into the city. Keep heading forward, and you’ll find a well leading underground. Once you’re below the surface level, you can spot a group of fodder enemies standing around a pentagram. Look behind them to find some health pickups and gold.
Secret Area 2
The second secret area in Chapter 5 requires a Blue Keycard before becoming accessible. To get it, you’ll need to reach a cliff on the map’s western corner. Once you’re there, the keycard can be acquired from a dead body on the floor. And conveniently enough, the hidden location can be reached by simply jumping off the cliff.
Secret Area 3
This secret location is tucked inside Hell Carrier number three. While wrecking enemies inside the ship, be on the lookout for a breakable wall that’s marked with a purple logo. Bash through it to discover the area.
Secret Area 4
The fourth secret location in Doom requires the completion of a mini-puzzle. After destroying the third Hell Carrier, descend on the landing platform beside it. Continue moving through the corridors and towards the main objective until you spot a platform made out of wooden walkways on the right. Throw your shield to destroy the red chain obstacle and then bash into the green box.
This will allow you to climb the box and access the wooden walkways leading to the hidden location. Follow this path until you find another pentagram surrounded by enemies.
Secret Area 5
While heading towards the fourth carrier, you can spot the Ruby locked behind a metal gate. Once you do, just look in the opposite direction from the gate, and you’ll see a chandelier that can be brought using the shield. Doing so will unlock the gate.
Secret Area 6
After grabbing the Ruby, keep heading forward until you reach the small bridge lit by torches. Edge towards the right corner and you’ll be able to spot another floor underneath. Jump down and follow wooden walkways until you see a caved-in wall leading back inside the building.
A Mancubus’ll ambush you on entering. Dispatch all the demons in your way and go towards the area where the Mancubus emerged from. There will be a series of unmissable platforms that you can climb, and at the top sits the Serrat Collectible Toy.
Secret Area 7
After taking down the titan with the help of your Cyberdragon, land on the nearby secret platform. Keep moving forward, and you’ll spot a metal gate locked with a red keycard requirement. To unlock it, dive into the pool of water situated almost directly in front of it.
Swim to the bottom and encircle it until you spot an interactable valve. Turning the wheel will unlock the central underwater chamber that stores the red keycard. Grab it and swim back to the surface to unlock the gate. All this effort will earn you a Ruby.
Secret Area 8
The eighth secret can be found on the same landing spot. For this one, just look for edges that allow you to jump to lower levels. Descend until you’re on the same level as the water body surrounding the area. Now, look on the right-hand side for another caved-in wall. This one will lead you to an undercroft of sorts, and you’ll find a weapon skin sitting at the end.
Secret Area 9
On the path to the main objective, you’ll have to take down a titan in the city with the help of your Cyber Dragon. After doing so, jump over the stone railings around the area and descend to its lowest level. Keep circling around, and eventually you’ll spot a door leading to an underground area. Head inside to discover the final Secret Area.
