- While Dimensity 7300 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 share the same cores, the former is fabricated on TSMC's 4nm node and the latter is built on Samsung's 4nm node.
- Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 matches the CPU performance of Dimensity 7300, but it also throttles the cores, leading to inefficient performance
- The GPU on Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 again performs similarly to Dimensity 7300, but can't match the peak sustained performance.
Nothing’s CMF Phone 1 (review) packs the latest mid-range chipset from MediaTek, the Dimensity 7300. Many are wondering how well it performs against the POCO X6’s Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 SoC, another mid-range chipset from Qualcomm. So in this test, we have compared Dimensity 7300 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 on a variety of tests including Geekbench, AnTuTu, CPU Throttling test, and more.
Dimensity 7300 vs Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 Specs Overview
We have added the specifications of Dimensity 7300 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 side by side for your convenience here. Go ahead and check out the differences.

Geekbench 6 CPU
The Dimensity 7300 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 are very identical processors. Both have eight CPU cores and the same old ARM cores. In fact, the CPU cluster is also the same. Both Dimensity 7300 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 feature 4x Cortex-A78 cores and 4x Cortex-A55 cores with a slight variance in clock speeds.
And we see identical performance in the Geekbench test as well. The Dimensity 7300 scored 1,018 and 2,920 in single-core and multi-core tests, respectively. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 also achieves similar scores, achieving 1,032 and 2,978 points. The 100MHz increase in frequency helps in squeezing a bit more performance from the A78 core.
Simply put, both processors perform along the same lines. However, Dimensity 7300 is manufactured on TSMC’s 4nm process node, and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is built on Samsung’s 4nm node. This is a key difference you should note if you care about sustained performance. More on this in the CPU Throttling test which I have explained below.
Dimensity 7300 | Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 | |
---|---|---|
Single-core | 1,018 | 1,032 |
Multi-core | 2,920 | 2,978 |
AnTuTu Benchmark
In the next AnTuTu benchmark, Dimensity 7300 achieves a total score of 637,177 points whereas the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 gets only 584,141 points, a difference of 9%. However, in the CPU test, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 takes a slight lead, but Dimensity 7300 makes a comeback in GPU, memory, and user experience tests.
In the storage test too, Dimensity 7300 performs exceptionally well. UFS 3.1 storage on CMF Phone 1 results in almost 1.8x better read/write speed. Overall, Dimensity 7300 performs better than Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 in the AnTuTu test.
Dimensity 7300 Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 AnTuTu Score 637,177 584,141 CPU 183,575 200,128 GPU 145,772 117,214 Memory 144,038 122,323 UX 163,792 144,476 Storage Test 78,386 43,316
CPU Throttling Test
Moving to the CPU Throttling test, well, Samsung’s 4nm process node stands defeated against TSMC’s advanced 4nm process node. The Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 is fabricated on Samsung’s 4LPE node, and that results in performance degradation in a 15-minute stress test. It throttled to 72% of its maximum performance.
Whereas, the Dimensity 7300 throttled to 94% of its maximum performance showing no substantial drop in performance. It goes on to show that TSMC’s fabrication process is much more advanced, and if you want a chipset that can deliver sustained peak performance for a longer period, you should pick Dimensity 7300 over Snapdragon 7s Gen 2.
3DMark Wild Life Stress Test
Coming to the 3DMark Wild Life Stress test where we test the GPU capability. The Adreno 710 GPU on Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 nearly matches the peak performance of Mali-G615 MC2 GPU on Dimensity 7300, but the stability does not look good. It means that during intensive graphical tasks, the Adreno 710 GPU is likely to throttle and reduce its performance.
On the other hand, Dimensity 7300’s GPU does a splendid job with a stability of 99.1%. Note that the Dimensity 7300’s GPU is already underpowered in comparison to other competing chipsets. The fact that the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 fails to even beat it is pretty disappointing.
Dimensity 7300 Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 Best loop score 3,137 3,029 Lowest loop score 3,109 2,718 Stability 99.1% 89.7%
AITuTu Benchmark
In the AITuTu benchmark, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 hits it out of the park. Its Hexagon AI engine scores a whopping 346,148 points whereas Dimensity 7300’s APU 655 only achieves a score of 99,445. Basically, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2’s AI engine is almost 3.5x more powerful than the D7300’s APU.
5G Speed Test
Finally, we come to the 5G speed test. Surprisingly, MediaTek has upped its game when it comes to radio connectivity. The 5G modem on Dimensity 7300 achieves a peak download speed of 339 Mbps and a peak upload speed of 3.09 Mbps.
In comparison, the Snapdragon X62 5G modem on 7s Gen 2 reaches up to 260 Mbps in download speed and 1.76 Mbps in upload speed. For your information, we did the test on Jio’s 5G network at the same location.
The Verdict: Does Dimensity Top the Snapdragon?
Although Dimensity 7300 is not the most powerful chip in its price segment, it is disappointing to see the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 failing to outperform it. While the CPU performance is almost similar, the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2 throttles heavily despite featuring the same ARM cores and CPU layout. Similar is the case with the GPU as well.
It looks like Samsung’s 4nm process node is the culprit here. So, to sum up, if you have to choose between the Dimensity 7300 and Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, I would certainly recommend the former.
