Get Out might not explicitly be a horror film but it will shake you up to your very core. This movie brings to light a young African-American photographer Chris who is finally going to meet the parents of his white girlfriend Rose. Even though her parents know of Chris, they don’t know that he is African-American. So, Chris was a bit skeptical about meeting them and staying with them for the weekend. However, he is received by them rather warmly but soon, he starts to feel something is off which ultimately stands to be true.

Get Out features one of the darkest plot twists I have ever seen. I’m not going to reveal a lot but if you think the parents turn out to be killers or are involved in human trafficking or are cannibals or something like that, trust me when I say it, it’s way worse than any of this.

Throughout the movie, some revelations will make you feel like Teddy is getting closer to finding out the answers he seeks. However, everything changes when he meets Tyler Durden, who is everything this man wishes to be. They become friends and start a men-only group where they fight each other bare-knuckled calling it the Fight Club.

Soon, fight clubs became a thing around the country and grew into an anti-capitalist domestic terrorist organization. While Tyler seems to see nothing wrong with it, the protagonist wants to bring an end to it and finds out something about Tyler that changes the whole narrative of the movie.

American Psycho features one of the most mind-boggling endings you will ever witness. He is a successful investment banker making big money working on Wall Street. Even though he is rich, successful, and charming, Bateman moonlights as a serial killer by the night.

The movie is enough to make you sick to your stomach with the detailed murders and the unsettling personality of Patrick. However, the best part of the movie is the plot twist served by the end where the audience is left wondering what happened.

Memento takes us to the life of a professional insurance claims investigator named Leonard Shelby. He is a victim of a rare condition called short-term memory loss. Saw has grown to be one of the most loved franchises of all time with an audience that still celebrates the movies that come out of this franchise. However, the first Saw movie features one of the best plot twists seen in the Saw franchise. In this movie, two men Adam Stanheight and Dr. Lawrence Gordon find themselves chained in a washroom and each of them has a tape in their pockets. In the room, there is also a corpse that is holding onto a tape player. When they play the tapes, one of them is threatened and one is not.

They have to play a “game” orchestrated by the Jigsaw Killer where one of them has to kill the other one before 6:00 PM or his wife and child die. Throughout the movie, we see flashbacks that tell us the stories of other victims of the killer, these two men being the latest of them. The plot twist in this movie will leave you baffled because it comes out of the most unexpected element in the frame.

The Sixth Sense was M. Night Shyamalan’s first big movie and in all honesty, it deserves all the praise it has gained for itself. The movie takes us to a child psychologist named Malcolm Crowe who narrowly escaped death after being shot by one of his former patients. After this, he fell in deep guilt for letting down his patient and saw a chance at redemption in a young boy named Cole Sear.

Cole claims that he can see dead people even those who don’t know that they are dead yet. However, Malcolm does not believe the little guy and thinks it’s a psychological condition. Over time they develop a bond and eventually, he realizes that Cole was not making it up. However, the way he comes to this realization is the whole plot twist of this movie which will blow you away with how fantastically it has been masked with impeccable camera work and direction.

In A Galaxy Far Far Away, a story unfolds that to this day, remains one of the most successful franchises ever made. Star Wars: Episode V – The Empire Strikes Back is the highest-rated movie from the world of Star Wars and in my opinion, this one features one of the biggest plot twists we have ever seen on screen.

I think most of you might be familiar with what I am talking about and if you are not, you really ought to watch The Empire Strikes Back. However, if you are keen on learning the twist, all I can tell you is that it stems from a father-son relationship.

10. Se7en

  • Release Date- 22 September 1995
  • Cast- Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, Kevin Spacey, Gwyneth Paltrow, Andrew Kevin Walker, Leland Orser, R. Lee Ermey, John C. McGinley, Peter Crombie, Reg E. Cathey, Michael Reid MacKay, Daniel Zacapa
  • IMDb/Rotten Tomatoes Rating- 8.6/84%
  • Director- David Fincher

Se7en is easily one of the most gruesome crime movies you can find. This movie takes us to two homicide detectives who are trying to hunt down a serial killer named John Doe who justifies his killings as an account for the world that has completely forgotten the seven deadly sins. The killer takes down a person in gruesome ways as a representation of one of the seven sins.

The detectives try head and toe to find this killer but by the final act of the movie, we see that the serial killer kills someone that sends Detective Mills through the edge. I’m not going to reveal too much about the twist here since it will take the fun out of the movie so if you want to know who was this person you’ll have to watch this Se7en.
