As you progress, make it a priority to replace lower-tier characters with higher-ranked ones instead of investing resources into them for the long term. You can also push many units even further with the right traits and equipment. But any unit’s true potential is unlocked through evolution in Anime Expeditions. So, make sure you prioritize that grind.

Anime Expeditions Units Tier List Explained

Now that you have a brief idea about the units tier list, let us explain why and how we have ranked each character in their respective tiers. Keep in mind that units can get even stronger with the right traits in Anime Expeditions. Our evolution is solely based on the units’ passives and stats.

S+ Tier Units

These are the strongest units in Anime Expeditions and should be your top priority whenever you get them. They combine exceptional damage, powerful passives, or unmatched utility that remains valuable from Story Mode to the toughest endgame content. Make sure to get the required equipment in Anime Expeditions that works perfectly with these characters.

  • Shadow (Divine): Shadow Realm grants every Magical unit a 25% damage boost while transforming the battlefield in your favor. Its permanent spirit summons continue attacking throughout the match, giving it incredible sustained damage.
  • 8th Sword (Berserk): Passive damage constantly chips away at nearby enemies before Berserk Mode massively boosts its damage, range, and attack speed. It becomes one of the hardest-hitting carries once it reaches its takedown requirement.
  • Puppet (Telekinetic): Puppet Mark automatically targets dangerous enemies, helping your team eliminate bosses much faster. Its summoned doll provides another reliable damage source without needing additional setup.
  • Cursed Student (True Love): Follow-up attacks and Bleed stacking allow it to shred high-health targets with ease. Bat Spirit summons increase its damage output even further during extended fights.
  • Toy Maker: Toy summons pressure enemies across the lane while providing extra bodies that contribute consistent damage. Its unique summon mechanics make it useful in almost every game mode.

S Tier Units

S Tier units from our tier list are only a small step below the absolute best characters in Anime Expeditions. They either excel in a specific role or offer powerful support that can elevate your entire team. While they may need the right setup or teammates to reach their full potential, they remain excellent long-term investments.

  • Crimson (Brother): Crimson Marks create delayed explosions that clear tightly packed enemy waves with ease. Lingering crimson pools continue damaging enemies after the initial blast, adding strong area control.
  • Flame Emperor (Reincarnate): Burn spreads across nearby enemies, making it one of the strongest wave-clearing units available. Walls of fire add another layer of damage to every path enemies travel.
  • Salmon Sorcerer (Grade 1): Slow and stagger effects dramatically increase the time enemies spend inside your damage dealers’ range. It remains one of the best crowd control supports currently available.
  • Lady Giant (Envy): Rock Chunks trigger powerful follow-up attacks that improve its overall DPS. Giant transformation increases multiple stats at once, making it a reliable frontline carry.
  • Elf Mage (Unleashed): Arcane Charges continuously strengthen its spell attacks as battles progress. Its follow-up magic provides excellent area damage during longer waves.
  • Ramen Guy: Increases Yen earned from defeated enemies by 50%, letting you reach expensive upgrades much earlier. Every efficient farming team benefits from having this economy unit.

A Tier Units

A Tier units remain reliable choices for Story Mode, Infinite, and raids. If you do not own higher-ranked units, these characters can easily carry your progression.

  • String Demon (Awakened): Cocoon stuns provide valuable crowd control, while follow-up string attacks improve overall damage. It balances utility and offense better than most Mythics.
  • Reaper (Released): Permanent damage and critical chance buffs make it stronger the longer a stage lasts. Mirage Step also provides extra flexibility through repositioning.
  • Hollow (Blaze): Deals increased damage against burning enemies, making it the strongest alongside Flame Emperor. Without Burn support, its overall performance drops noticeably.
  • Forbidden Teacher: Buffs every Magical unit within range, making it an excellent support for magic-focused teams. Upgrade levels continue to increase the strength of its aura.
  • The Hero: Strengthens nearby Physical units with a scaling damage buff that benefits every carry around it. It fits naturally into physically-based team compositions.
  • True Saint (Holy): True Saint Mark increases the damage enemies receive with almost no setup required. It is one of the easiest strong units for beginners to obtain early.

B Tier Units

Despite being B Tier units, some of these characters offer useful support effects that can fill temporary team slots. Avoid investing too many resources into them unless they perfectly fit your current lineup. You should also ignore using items in Anime Expeditions for leveling these low-tier units.

  • Greed: Deals extra damage against bosses, making it more useful during single target encounters. Outside of boss stages, its overall value falls behind stronger DPS units.
  • Ice Queen: Freeze effects help slow difficult enemies, while bonus damage activates against weakened targets. It provides decent utility despite lower overall damage.
  • Water Princess: Protective shields block incoming debuffs for nearby allies, improving team survivability. Its defensive role is useful in certain encounters but lacks offensive impact.
  • Scissor: Consecutive attacks gradually increase damage against the same enemy. The passive rewards longer fights, but scales slower than higher-tier carries.

C Tier Units

The C Tier units mainly exist for beginners as they are easier to pull. Their damage and utility quickly fall behind once better characters become available from banners or events. Most should only be upgraded if you have no stronger alternatives available. Use Anime Expeditions codes, use the gems, and replace these units.

  • Stone Alchemist: Generates early income but is eventually outclassed by Ramen Guy’s superior economy. It still serves as a helpful beginner farm option.
  • Ice Mage: Slows enemy movement enough to help your main damage dealers attack longer. It offers decent crowd control before stronger support units become available.
  • Bounty Hunter: Provides basic damage without any meaningful passive abilities. Its usefulness drops quickly during mid-game progression.
  • Corps Captain: Delivers steady attacks but lacks the scaling needed for difficult stages. It mainly fills empty team slots early on.
  • Demon Cyborg: Offers straightforward physical damage without additional mechanics or utility. Stronger DPS characters replace it very quickly.
  • Nen Hunter: Performs adequately during early Story chapters but lacks unique strengths. It struggles to remain relevant against tougher enemies.

D Tier Units

These are the weakest units currently available in Anime Expeditions. They have no notable passives or scaling mechanics that allow them to compete with higher rarity characters.

  • Curly Brow: Basic attacks offer little value once Epic units become available. It should only be used during the earliest stages.
  • Kid Assassin: Low overall damage prevents it from keeping up with later content. Replacing it early will noticeably improve your team.
  • Reishi Archer: Lacks the damage and utility needed for difficult stages. It serves mainly as an early placeholder.
  • Thunder Shinobi: Decent starter damage cannot compensate for its lack of scaling. Better options become available very quickly.
  • Rubber Boy: Has no impactful passive to separate it from other Rare units. It is one of the first characters worth replacing.
  • Carrot: Offers limited offensive potential and no meaningful team utility. There is little reason to invest resources into this unit.
