ZenFone Max Pro Battery Test: 5,000 mAh of Absolute Insanity

When Asus announced the ZenFone Max Pro last month, one of the most exciting things about it was the 5,000 mAh battery Asus somehow stuffed inside that (relatively) slim frame. Now, when the ZenFone Max Pro is going on pre-orders in India (starts at ₹10,999), I’m sure a lot of you are wondering what the battery performance is actually like. Well, we’ve done battery tests on the ZenFone Max Pro for your benefit, and this here is the kind of battery performance you can expect from the ZenFone Max Pro.

Charging Test

We started off with the charging test because even though Asus boasted about the humungous 5,000 mAh battery on the ZenFone Max Pro, and claimed that the phone came with fast charging support, we couldn’t find any details about charging time. Which is weird because, to our surprise, the phone charges remarkably quickly.

Charging the ZenFone Max Pro from 10% to a full 100% with the bundled 5V/2A power adapter took us 2 hours. I know, at first, glance that looks like a lot of time for charging a smartphone, but then again, this smartphone packs in 5,000 mAh battery.

In our ultimate fast charging test that we did on YouTube, we found out that most phones with batteries in the ballpark of 3,000 mAh to 3,500 mAh take around 1 hour and 30 minutes to 1 hour and 40 minutes. With that in perspective, the ZenFone Max Pro actually charges pretty quickly.

Battery Life: Does It Ever End?

Last year, when I tried the Redmi Note 4 with its 4,000 mAh battery, I was amazed at how long it lasted. So naturally, with the 5,000 mAh battery on the ZenFone Max Pro, my expectations were even higher. I’m happy to report that the phone didn’t just meet my expectations, it completely blew past them.

Starting a day (which usually is around 8 am) with around 100% charge, the phone usually got to around 50% by the time I went to sleep (which, by the way, is usually around midnight). That’s not even light or medium usage, I’m talking heavy usage of the phone. Playing games, shooting photos and videos, watching videos on YouTube made up a lot of those days, and the ZenFone Max Pro just keeps going and going. Sometimes this phone gets exhausting in how slowly it discharges. Not that I’m complaining.

ZenFone Max Pro Battery Test: 5,000 mAh of Absolute Insanity

In my experience, the ZenFone Max Pro lasted me two days before I had to plug it in. The battery performance on this phone is absolutely bonkers. I got a screen-on-time of over 10 hours!

ZenFone Max Pro Battery Test: Absolutely Amazing

I think it’s safe to say the ZenFone Max Pro doesn’t let down when it comes to the battery. The phone’s massive 5,000 mAh battery lasts extremely long, and will not let you down even if you forget to charge your phone someday. Plus, it charges up really quickly for a 5,000 mAh battery. So even if by some unlucky coincidence, you forget to charge your phone for a couple of days, you can plug it in for a little while to get enough juice to get you through the day.
