The reason for May 4th to be Star Wars Day is kind of funny and might sound a bit absurd to you folks so I would recommend you to brace for impact. So, all of us are familiar with the most said quote by Jedis in Star Wars “May The Force Be With You” and out of this sentence a ‘Dad Joke’ surfaced.

Good bye, old friend. May the Force be with you.” – Obi-Wan Kenobi to Anakin Skywalker

Since “May The Force” sounds somewhat like “May the 4th”, a dad joke that said “May the 4th Be With You” became extremely popular. This joke gained so much popularity that in 2019, Disneyland’s Galaxy’s Edge was opened on May 4th, and California lawmakers instituted May 4th to be celebrated as Star Wars Day throughout the world.

May 5 – Revenge of the 5th

If you chuckled a little, wait for May 5’s relevance in Star Wars. Like “May The Force Be With You” was turned into “May the 4th Be With You,” similarly the popular Star Wars movie ‘Star Wars: Episode III – Revenge of the Sith‘ came to be known as the “Revenge of the Fifth” and May 5 is often regarded as the Revenge of the Fifth.

May – A Special Month for Star Wars

The month of May holds a special relevance for the Star Wars franchise. The first Star Wars movie, Star Wars: A New Hope, was released on May 25, 1977. Also, George Lucas, the creator of the Star Wars franchise was born on May 14, 1944.

As far as I believe, Star Wars has been one of those franchises that helps as a connecting bridge between older generations and the younger ones. If nothing else, a father and a son can bond over this franchise which is evidence of how good cinema can impact the lives of people.

Star Wars, to this day, holds its relevance, and the way things are going, it will remain relevant as long as humanity exists. Stay tuned with us for further interesting pieces and till then- May The Force Be With You!
